Robarms XCR FAQ post

Have a question about xcr-l 5.56 accuracy. I have the keymod version with light barrel and accuracy isn't the best. 2-3 moa even with hornady match ammo. I noticed after a few rounds, the groupings would expand. I was wondering if the Heavy barrel would give better accuracy consistently since it will handle the heat better ?? Anyone can help me with this? Dunno if it was asked before and sorry if it was.

Should i pick up a heavy barrel? And how much of weight difference would it be?

if you going for best grouping, try to set your gas setting on "S" bolt will not cycle. Accuracy improves .

Went to the range yesterday to zero my 6.5 Grendel XCR. Checked my POA/POI at various ranges and I managed to put this group together at 300yd with the ammo I had left. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the rifle and ammo combo.

Ok stupid question but here goes. I have two 223 barrels here. Both are the same so I don’t know if they are heavy barrels or lite.

How do I tell?

Just picked up a brand spanking new XCR-L Keymod LW Rifle, my first rifle.
Also grabbed some mags, 1 - 30 pinned at 5 and 2 - 10 round pmags(seems to be pinned, is that normal?)

This is a very long thread, I'd love to read it all but I want to shoot. I do have a few questions;
1) is there any thing I should know before going full bore?
2) what ammo should I start with for plinking and gettimg to know the rifle?

Any insight would be highly appreciated.

Yeah, you need to pick up some 10 round RA XCR-L pistol mags with the same laser etched on the sides. There area some other makes as well.

Mags meant for pistols can hold 10 rounds, and if they just happen to fit in a rifle then that is fine as well.

Clean the barrel to ensure it is free of any grease and oil. I like to have my bolt and bolt carrier more wet with oil then dry, especially new.

For plinking I wait for the sales to come on and order some bulk 5.56. None corrosive, full metal jacket.
Winchester 5.56 NATO, 55gr FMJ, 1000 Round Bulk Pack was on sale for $399.95 this summer at the ammosource.com
Once in a while surplus spam cans from China arrive in 5.56. Again, None corrosive, full metal jacket and those also seem to work just fine.

My insight is that you should read the thread before you start asking questions that have already been asked. Every one of your questions has been asked and answered. Put in the slightest amount of effort to read rather than be spoonfed.

I just got my newest xcr-m back from wolverine. It was grouping about 2.5 moa with good ammo witch is sub par compared to my heavy barrel xcr-m shooting constantly at moa. They replaced the 308 1-10 barrel with a 308M 1-10 and add another muzzle break . This is the group it shot with Hirtenberger surplus ammo. There was a small gain in weight with the new barrel. My gun weighed 8.2lbs when I shipped it off and it came back at 8.4lbs. It now weighs in at 9.6 pounds with the scope and rings.

The only information I found said that it was a 308/7.62×51 barrel. The muzzle break looks to be the same but I cant be 100%

Put an Insite Heathen brake on it and it might even tighten up, mine really likes Federal Gold Medal Match 168 gr. Sierras
