Thinking of picking up another XCR-L, thinking about the competition length upper.
I plan on making liberal use of different caliber barrel kits. How is the competition length upper with swapping out the barrel? Changing the gas setting?

Competition upper will only work with type 3 gas
block.
I wanted competition model as well but then changed my mind because it probably will be heavier than regular XCR-L

I prefer the type 2 because it's easier to adjust/disassemble. On thrle type 3, iirc there is a small set screw on the dial that needs to come out to get into the gas block for cleaning. You get more adjustment though.
I'm leaving away from the competition model now too.
If you use decent ammo you do not have to clean type 3 gas block very often , have 223 Wylde , 6.5 Grendel and 6.8 SPC and no prob changing out if you have quick detach sling swivel on forend you will have to remove just make sure your barrel has type 3 gas block
No. XCR use AR mags.

Thanks. No 300blk barrels there but 6.5 grendel. No bolts or mags. Like a puzzle
