Same here...I get the odd one dented at the neck, but most are okay (99%). On setting 2. Might try setting 1 next time as I've heard of some people shooting successfully there once it's broken in. Slightly less kick and easier on the brass.
 
with my 6.8spc brass I am getting some dents on the shoulders I was wondering if anyone has tried grinding down on the ejection buffer like is done on 1911 style handguns and if so has it helped?

I'm pretty new here on the forum, and i have a bit of a silly question. What magazines are legal for use in my XCR rifle? Just magazines pinned at 5 rounds, or is it acceptable to use LAR 15, 10 round magazines? From what i'm reading on the forum, the XCR is obviously unrestricted, and the LAR magazines are legal to buy, but is the combination of a 10 round magazine and my XCR going to get me into any trouble. Thanks much for any help on my question.
 
Somewhere on Questar's site (dealer here on CGN you can find their link at the top of this page) is a writeup and RCMP letter stating the legalities.

Find it print off a copy and keep the info with your 10 round mags...

Thank you so much guys! I just recently ordered 5 of the LAR magaizines from questar, and this letter will definantly go wherever me and my LAR magazines go.
 
Going out this weekend to shoot my XCR for the first time. Any tips from you guys on what ammo to run, or what to bring, expect, etc. The instruction booklet from robinson arms says to use gas setting 4 and to run american eagle ammo. Thanks again.
 
You don't need a particular brand of ammo for break in purpose, just make sure you lube it well and run at setting 4 for the first 200, once you hit 200 dial down your gas setting to 2 there shouldn't be any needs to touch it again.
 
I would recommend buying a 3Bucc flat top brass catcher for your rifle if you reload your ammo. It is simply awesome.
 
I ran mine on 4 for a few shots then 3 for a few then 2 without a hitch, by about the 40th I was on 1 where it has remained for another 8-900 rounds. Ive had 3 or 3 bob's that were my fault for not ramming the mag all the way home and 3 or 4 more fte's with bob's that I suspect was due to weak loads that couldnt fully cycle the bolt, all the fte's have been with pmc 55gr which is a bit weaker to begin with, but they are cheap! I suppose I could go back to 2 and have no more issues....actually I will, and use 1 for american eagle. sheesh, why didnt I think of this before?
 
What tools do you guys use and any tips on cleaning your XCR? What specific cleaners and oils and bore snakes, etc etc. What is your cleaning routine? Thanks allot!
 
I just ran about 220 rounds through my gun yesterday. It worked just about flawlessly. Had 1 jam, at about round 180. The bolt jammed forward, it was not fully closed and the round in the chamber did not fire. After allot of wiggling and pulling on the charge handle the bolt finally came back and the shell came out. That and the front sight almost fell off. it started to come loose, so that's one bolt that needs locktite. After round 200, i started noticing the trigger slap a bit more, so i turned the gas setting down from 4 to 2 which solved the problem. This gun is allot more accurate than i expected. At about 100 yards i was having no problems making large holes in some old haloween pumpkins with just the iron sights.

Now all that's left is to clean the rifle for next time. so any input would be greatly appreciated.

It's a pretty simple rifle to clean... I field strip it, run some patches with CLP through it (or a brush, then patches if it's really dirty), put a brush through the gas tube a few times, then clean the bolt, piston rod, whatever, as needed. It stays pretty clean. Doesn't get nearly as dirty as an AR.
