Robarms XCR FAQ post

I bolted on my new FAST stock yesterday in place of the fixed version. Seems good so far.

what kind of sling mounting options on that stevo?

That looks dead ###y...

Thanks.

what kind of sling mounting options on that stevo?

The stock has a single QD swivel hole on the bottom of the stock adaptor and I suppose you could use the hole near the butt plate for a 550 cord or snap hook attachment point. There's no other built-in sling mounts on the rifle, so I also have a sling slot attachment on the left side rail.

Thanks,
I've been using a snap hook on the second gen but have just moved my sling to wrap around the bottom part.

I've been agonizing over the FAST because RA is pretty vague on where/how to attach a sling.

Can anyone in the know advise if it is possible to put a factory stock 18.5 inch barrel on a mini or micro upper? From what I've seen it appears to be quite easy to do so, but confirmation would be great. Thanks.

Totally possible but the mini or micro upper have been brought in as pistols by Wolverine supplies to stop people from swapping out their uppers and having a 7.5" illegal "non-restricted" gun. So it's a moot point as it'll always be registered as a pistol and the change in barrel length will not change the status. Once a pistol always a pistol in the eyes of the registry.

If you're thinking the other way around and putting a mini or micro on a full length non-res XCR then also note that the mini and micro are regsitered with the barrel length included. That upper is not "dissapearing" anytime soon. Wolverine has been in business for more than a few days and knows their market quite well ;). Not saying this is what you're thinking but I'm sure you're not the only one reading this ;).

EDIT** I guess I didn't read your post right, thought you were talking about uppers and you say barrel. The barrel is problematic and not a drop in swap. This is due to the fact that the gas port for the piston would be in different locations. This is going off of pure photos here, but I do believe that the gas ports are in different locations on the mini, micro, and full length barrels.

Hope that helps.

Thx for the response. I was actually considering that a mini with a 18.5 barrel might bring down the front end weight a bit, since the original design is a 16". There are other options like fluting, but was just curious about the options out there. I only target shoot anyway so registration isn't a big deal-breaker for me.

EDIT: Nevermind, looks like it can technically be done : http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=40463

Key is to use the correct length gas tube and op rod. Ie: standard length gas system will work in a micro or mini upper, as long as you use the standard length gas tube and op rod. A mini length gas system will work in a micro upper, but not a standard upper. (it won't fit in the upper, too short)

looks sharp, I've seen it before and like the idea. I'm interested in if wolverine can bring a mini upper in as well.

I am sure this has been covered - but it is way too long of a thread...

I recently swapped out the fast stock with a non-folding NEA adapter and AR stock.

1) can I install a shorter barrel now that it doesnt fold?
2) where can I buy said barrel for the .223

Installing a different brake on the XCR-L barrel

Recently bought a 762x39 conversion kit and wanted to try a different brake. Damn brake is pinned according to Calif law (as I understand it). Sent an email to Robarms asking what to do. They replied that the pin is welded and to grind it until the pin is loose. Sometimes the weld is to the bottom of the pin as was mine. Took a dremel and started cutting, stopped before I got to the threads, unscrewed the brake and the pin fell out along with a bit of the thread. Put on a Troy Medieval and it re-threaded the damaged thread. Also put a SEI AR Navy brake on the 223 barrel which is staying as the brake works just like the Navy on my M14. Note the hole for the pin (original 223 barrel was not pinned). For the 762x39, I'm planning on trying a SEI Navy, Battlecomp BABC and a PWS FSC30.

Definitely the Navy works real good. Troy is about the same as the stock brake which is why I want to try the others. Can say that the accuracy on the 762x39 was very good, 3-5" groups at a 100 using an Elcan and Norc non corrosive. Had 2 LAR 762x39 10rd mags with a coupler and shot 20rd pretty fast, nice and tight, very happy, also cheap shooting.
