Robarms XCR FAQ post

Just joined the XCR-L family.

Held it and it just felt so light and balanced! Just knew I had to buy one.

XCR? Light and balanced?

What?!!!

I think I need to sold my old and heavy 7.5lbs XCR and but the new keymod rail model...

Does anybody know the weight of the new keymod xcr-l?

I've read somewhere and the keymod upper can be fitted with the old lower...

The keyword xcr is around 7.2 pounds. You can get your old lower to work with a new upper but you need to make a modification. The info is in wolverines forum!

Howdy guys!

It is starting to look like I have been scammed on the used XCR........

I ordered a new one from Wolverine last week and it got here today.
I didn't necessarily want "Canadian Camo" but I did want a heavy barrel and that is the color they had in stock.

Can't wait to get it out and run a few rounds thru it !! :)
Hopefully Thursday if I can get caught up at work......

Question .... I want to put a grip on the bottom but I can't figure out for sure what rails I need for the key mod.
Wolverine has some "key mod rail sections" ... these ones http://www.wolverinesupplies.com/details/16129/Midwest-Industries-Key-Mod-Rail-Section-375.aspx
Is that what I need? What about something longer?

Thanks

Buddy that rifle is sick! Never seen the white one out there ! Anyone have tiger stripe out there in keymod!

Has anyone used this along side the acr?

Will give full range report this weekend. Just holding and playing around with both back to back weight feels about the same but I feel the XCR points a bit nicer. Definitely for me anyways feels a lot slimmer and less bulky with the keymod. The XCR charging handle is better placed, lower so won't bang hands against optic although the ACR handle is ambi and can be switched for the left or right side. ACR has the better stock. I like the fact the XCR is all metal construction vs the polymer lower on the ACR. XCR pistol grip can be change out with any AR style grip where the ACR grip is part of the lower. ACR has a bigger flared magwell. XCR has 5 gas settings, ACR has 2 gas settings. Trigger goes to the XCR for sure, crisper break and has a nice standard 2 stage trigger.

I paid $2095 plus taxes (new) for mine. He paid $2850 plus taxes (used) for his non restricted one.

We are going to the range this weekend and will shoot them back to back and get back to you guys on the performance

Well written Hrcboy, looking forward to the range report.

If you're taking requests...
I'd like to know which is faster to load, and reload. I'm thinking 2 rounds per mag, 10 mags would be good, who's at the finish line first.

I gotta say, your pic makes the ACR look huge compared to the XCR. Never held the ACR myself though.

Subscribed for unbiased and thorough range report.

Just curious.... Pretty positive it is, but just in case; is the brake on the XCR-M removeable and what thread is it? Wanting to replace it with like an A2 (in 30 cal) or something that doesnt put so much noise and concussion back on the shooter as im planning on hunting with mine.

Good day at the range!

Various optics and rifles to try out. The XCR did shine! Out of the bunch shot the most flat and was the softest. In terms of accuracy they were all pretty accurate.

Some direct XCR vs ACR comparisons

Shooting the XCR felt more solid, ACR seem to torque a bit and was a bit more harsh. The ergos of the ACR enhanced rails was a bit too thick to C-clap hold, the keymod felt at home. The trigger of the XCR is way better than the ACR. ACR had some feeding issues but owner thought it could be do to over lubing and it seemed to get better later on in the day. The XCR has no issues at all. One of the things I got to get used to is the FAST stock. It was a bit to thin for me. Need to change it out to a AR stock or adjust my head position.

For me it's XCR over the ACR all the way. Would I give up my KAC/LMT SBR? Was think of selling my AR but had a lot of fun with that setup as well.

Good write up, Hrcboy.
Looks like a fun day was had. Nice toys, nice weather.
I can't believe how big the ACR looks in your first pic. Looks like a beast compared to the rest.

Cheers.

Nice comparison. ACR fanboys will be here soon to talk about how the acr is the worlds best gun.

I really can't see where there is anywhere where the ACR is better than the XCR. Can't comment on the previous generation of XCRs but the current one IMHO outshines the ACR in almost every way. From the trigger, action, adjustable gas block, controls and just the overall feel of the XCR. The ACR does win in the looks department. Gotta say it does look Badass. The XCR are readily available in non-restricted and way better priced as well.

Took my XCR-L keymod out to the range today (7.62x39) for the first time ran it well lubed but only got a chance to put 100 rounds down range. I ran on gas setting 1 the whole time and it threw empty cases a good distance no malfunctions at all. I have read mixed reviews on breaking it in on gas setting 4 for 40 rounds and others saying to run it on various settings until you get to the lowest gas setting that gives reliable results. My question is if I ran it on gas setting 1 and it ran fine what would be the reason on running it at a higher setting for break in? am I fine to always just have it running on gas setting 1 unless I am getting reliability issues in some harsh conditions or I am running really crappy ammo that won't feed reliably?

So I moved my fast stock higher and it's much better now in terms of getting a good cheek weld for optics.

One thing was after I moved it up I noticed a bit of play. Searched on the web they show how to correct this on the old stock. No mention on the instruction manual either. There is a set screw that you can back off at the top of the receiver and now the stock is nice and tight again. Hopefully this info will help some out.
