Robarms XCR FAQ post

you must be talking about the M? my L was a thread on.

Nope, my XCR-L is pinned and welded. Watched a few videos on how to remove the FH. Not sure I want to do it myself. And I'm guessing my new AAC blackout has to be pinned and welded back on for legal reasons?

I don't think pinning and welding a flash hider on serves any legal purpose in canada. Your barrel is either 18 1/2 or not. If it's 16 inches and you weld a FH on , it's still considered a restricted, I think anyway. If you remove it , you can then try and get the barrel threaded. I believe in the states , you can weld a FH on your barrel, thereby changing the classification.

What generation is your XCR-L? Mine is the gen just before the keymod etc. Pretty sure that it is simply threaded.

Not sure, got it off the EE in summer 2013. I'm at work so I can't check the serial number. It's a tan XCR with heavy barrel, not sure if they always made those in that coloure.

Ya pinned welded flash hider is the first ive heard. Unless the previous owner modded it that way

Here's what it looks like.

ya thats not factory. the previous owner mush have removed the threaded part of the bbl. that step down also isnt factory, I wonder if that is a different bbl alltogether. RA sells the chamber end of the bbl so you can get custom bbl's made. that may be what happened.

Have you measured the barrel? I think mine was 5.56 stamped.

I cannot verify as I am at work, but I thought rifles from the US, while chambered for 5.56 specifically, must be stamped .223 for export. I could be wrong, but I thought I read that somewhere.

Measured it at lunch. 19"(that's with the FH) and not including the chamber.
My guess is that barrel is not threaded and somebody didn't have access to threading , so they welded a Comp on. Or it's an American model and someone welded the comp on , to change its classification. Any way all that matters is that your barrel is 18 1/2 inches to retain its NR status . So , close the bolt, insert a cleaning rod until it brings up in the bolt face, put a mark on the rod , at the muzzle( muzzle should be about 3/4 inch inside the comp). This will give you barrel length. If it's under 18 1/2 inches , then it's a restricted firearm. First you need to determine length . If it turns out to be 18 1/2 inches , your just as well to leave it as is or buy a new barrel. More than likely , whoever pinned the comp on would have drilled indents in the barrel as well as the comp. So that the set screws had something to grab on to. ( I had one on my SU16 done this way - the weld).

Flash hiders are not part of bbl length measurments. Do you measure yer #### length starting at yer arsehole lol

Wasnt trying to be an azz just trying to be funny. If his bbl measures 19" to the flash hider it will be 18.5" bbl

Took it to the smith last night. It's a factory barrel. Pinned because it came from the states. Getting my AAC blackout installed now.

Don't have the tools to do it myself and I would rather not mess up the threads on the barrel.

Going to run me $47 :)
