Ron Smith or Ted Gaillard

You should go in to business supplying gun parts and components and fix that problem.

Problem is the Canadian market is not a large one. Suppliers don't do enough volume to keep inventory. So order on demand. Match barrels are available off the shelf at many suppliers in US so delivery time is a lot less. It would be nice if more of the 'popular' barrels were in stock in Canada. With so many contours and twist rates it may not be cost effective. In AZ. I can go to Brunos in the morning, pick up a Kreiger, and have my 243AI at the range before dark.

I have several Gaillard barrels and they are top notch. Hopefully someone will take his equipment over. Would be even better if it was a local so Ted could still be around.

Whatever happened to the guy that got Al Pedersen's barrel equipment?

Why are we gun owners so patient? Show me another industry that gets away with timelines like when ordering gun parts. Let's say your vehicle breaks down and you need to order a part. Would it be acceptable to you if you were told your part will be delivered in 6 months to one year? I have never dealt with these barrel makers, but have had long wait times on barrels, stocks, actions etc. I just don't feel that it is acceptable.

if you had ever been to RKS shop you wouldn't say that/ he is the bussyest 83 year old I know. bought him lunch not to long ago. the demand is simply overwhelming. ive used his bbls since forever.

All these Canadian Barrel manufacturers are one or two man operations that can only make one barrel at a time. Most are part time or retired and work when they feel like it. Most have no intentions of working 24-7. It is not as simple as just buying more machines and hiring help. It's like asking your grandma to make you a quilt, get on the list and it will be ready when it's ready. The market is too small in Canada for someone to invest millions in production barrel making equipment, a big shop, employees only to sell a few hundred barrels a year.

This is simply not true, International barrels out of Chilliwack BC, and JC barrels out of NB, both make barrels full time and both will compete against any US brand bbl!!
