RONI Glock Carbine conversion kits - Good news!

UPDATE Buying the correct barrel shroud I am told is supposed to allow the 34 to work in these kits without any of the modifications described below.

I received my kit the other day and here are the pics of what I did to make it fit my Glock 34 .It is more than just a different shroud to get it to fit as I had to remove some material away to get the gun to fit due to the longer barrel.
The gun would go into the kit OK but the front of the barrel didnt fit right and this caused the gun to be tilted up at the front and a gap was created by the trigger guard.

The top of the barrel is too close to the shroud in this pic due to the gun being tilted upwards.

I used a pair of sidecutters to trim pieces away and then a round grinding drill bit and a file to make room on both parts of the shell for the longer barrel. The kit and gun still fit securely afterwards and these mods are hidden from veiw.

Now the gun sits level and doesnt come in contact at the muzzle .

Being impatient and cheap I thought I would try and modify the barrel shroud to see if i could make it fit .. Traced a line around the shroud and used a sawsall to cut 15/16 th of an inch off .It will still be held in place by the bottom screw .

This is taken before I trimmed the plastic and it shows the shroud after cutting it, the barrel is tilted upwards.

This is a pic of after the shroud was cut and after the plastic material was trimmed from the stock. The top of the barrel is not as close to the shroud any longer as the barrel is level now .

All the modifications were made on internal parts so none of the changes are visable from the outside .Overall I am very happy with it and it should be alot of fun at the range

You didn't have to do that. I was concerned about that barrel angle with my original Roni and started a thread last year plus called the company in Isreal. It shoots fine with that angle as long as you are using the specific G34 shroud.

Key words from my last post......impatient and cheap ...and somewhere Bubba lurks somewhere down inside me...lol

I edited my first post .

For all of you asking what the CAA one weighs check their site, it tells you it weighs 1400gr
http://www.caatactical.com/viewProduct.asp?ID=267&catID=376
Someone weigh the airsoft 1 then we will know.

As previously said, the Original RONI G1 weight 3.22 lbs and has an overall length of 18.5” (stock closed) and 21.75” (stock extended). Height is 7.5” (with forward grip in vertical position) and Width 3”. The RONI with a Glock 17 weight 4.62 lbs

So 1400 grams = 3.09 pounds, so not even CAA doesn't know the right weight... :)

I must have missed that in the 25 pages lol.
Well I just ordered 1 last night, ill grab my digital scale for fish and weigh it this weekend or next weekend so we can compare.
A hook scale is probably the most accurate way to weigh it.

I'm starting to feel like a broken record here, but I will say this one last time.

Comparing the weight of the EMA to the CAA is pointless. These are an older version, and an older design. There is no doubt that the CAA one will have some differences and likely have some improvements.

You can't weigh a 1990 Suzuki Sidekick and compare it to the weight of a 2002 Chevy Tracker, even though they are the same thing. The tracker is newer and has changes made to it that the sidekick is lacking.

I stand by my original statement, that when theZreturns gets his and posts, we will know. He bought one of the original EMA tactical's for the full market price.
That is the only fair comparison.

All other comparisons are moot.

I personally don't care either way, because as I said, I have worked these things with 9mm and .40, and there have been no issues.

I would be interested in how much these cost, also. Same price as an authentic RONI? More? Less?

The Hera GCC were a bit more than the RONI, and more of a semi-permanent setup. The Hera Triarii is more along the lines of the RONI, except it's all-aluminium, faster install/remove and has the ability to mount a standard AR stock.

I had the RONI but preferred the GCC because it was more solid and the design, construction and engineering were far superior.

Okay.....Hera Triarii. I want

How much and how fast can I get one?

Feel free to PM me. And Blaxsun, it better not be an airsoft!

fair enough.
i will say this, i just got mine, got it together (thanks for the pics btw) and it is SOLID (just as you said.)
ive worked in plastic injection molding before (hated it) but i can tell you this is a high quality synthetic.

mine does not have the logos on it, it does however look like they may have been machined off, there is some visible machining masks on it, and the spots where the logos are on the origonal RONI are slightly duller. there is no stickers covering it.
the muzzle on mine has different vents. they are on the left right and on top center.
the pins that hold it together are annoying, im switching them to some sort of nut and bolt ill be at home depot tomorrow.

real RONI? possibly... other thing that may have happened is that CAA sold the mold to someone else that is making them. i guess only the guy selling them knows where they came from and he isnt telling by the sound of it.
its more solid than a lot of aftermarket parts that go on shotguns.
and keep in mind that the CAA one comes with a case, pre assembled, and with a flashlight... that accounts for some of the price difference.

FINALLY...CanadaPost tried to deliver today but I wasn't home... :(
I will get the piece at the post office tomorrow after work!
I will keep you updated the minute I have it mounted and ready and will take some comparison pictures! ;)

Hmmmmm... WOW! Really interesting piece. :p
Thanks for the heads-up, didn't know about that Triarii...

I am looking to get one of the non-airsoft ones for a comparison and to test. The nicer the price the better. Those in the know please PM me the sources. Thank you.

well it appears that this airsoft website has 2 different versions.
my friend ordered his 2 min before i did, he picked his up at the post office today, it came fully assembled, and will all the "RONI G1" branding on the plastic in the usual spots, also has the muzzle vents on the top, not on the sides like mine.

FIRST OF ALL... I WANT TO SAY I HATE CANADA POST... :bangHead:

I've got Bad News...

The package FINALLY arrived today... The bad news is that they damaged the package during it's processing.

There was a letter from Canada Post inside saying they had damaged it and they were sorry (YEAH RIGHT!). Letter they even didn't printed correctly, it is sideways !!!

letterfromcanadapost.jpg

At first, I opened the box to find out all the pieces were stuffed together in a bunch after Canada Post ripped apart the box...

I've started to inventory the parts and there's a major part missing! The telescopic buttstock's rail...

In the next post, I'll the comparison of both products... The airsoft one versus the original Roni...

you got the same 1 that i got from them. the cheakrest has 1 line on each side of the screw, different muzzle, and the branding isnt on it.

sorry to hear your parts are MIA..
