RONI Glock Carbine conversion kits - Good news!

Correct, I did not buy, touch, hold or see one. Just going on the logical deduction they are not the same thing.

It's not like we are talking about a $5000 piece of gear that has been found for $200, we are talking about less than a $300 difference!

And it is not a matter of it being worth it. An item being worth it normally has little to do with its price tag. Worth it is in the eye of the guy paying the bills...

I'm not trying to bash anyone (sorry of I came off like that). I would think there would be some major concerns about wrapping a real handgun in an airsoft kit! No matter how well it seems to be built.

I for one am not an expert in polymers and their performance or degradation under stress, temperature or general use.

Blaxsun already expressed his thoughts, these are mine, YMMV

Glad you're okay. Once I found out these were airsoft I thought it was sketchy to use with centre fire.

Hate to say I told you..........ah forget it.

####ing lol.. didn't take long.

So the rest of you gona keep using these wanabe roni kits after viewing that picture? I predict many flinches :D

For all the "I told you so" guys....relax. I would suggest that perhaps ZReturns start another thread to bring this to light before someone is injured. Sitting back laughing or V:I: at people who tried to save a few bucks is counter productive i think. Warn them!!

Yes... That's what I thought to do also!

I've started a thread about this issue right here:

Yuuuupppp... :p

You were actually right buddy! Thk

It seems like a weird place for it to break and I' surprised that it exploded and blew in your face.

My thoughts exactly. The break looks more like over tightening of the assembly screw than a blow out. The portion of the kit that the bullet and expanding gasses travel through looks to be intact with no residue from the gases.

I'm glad you're ok, Z.

I will continue to shoot mine though. Sometimes failures happen. However I will be extremely cautious and vigilantly watching for changes.

Thank you... I hope yours will work well for a long time! ;)

You're right... It is really a weird place to break up... Maybe a failure in the plastic mold made it happen?

It blew in my face because I was really close to the roni, trying to adjust the red dot on the roni, in a gun rest...

You should actually get yourself a Roni in your hands so you understand how it is built and also how you assemble it!

There's actually no screw that goes there, near that part... Only a push pin that goes through the frame in the front and in the back...

The side screws for the picatinny rails are free floating on the side of the shell, so they were not interfering with the part that blew up...

RONI COPY (all screws on the top and side rails weren't installed at the time of the picture):

I'm pretty sure that the gas from the muzzle flash escaped from the port and create enough pressure on the sides, so it exploded!

Man, there's so much fail here (where to begin)... the toy kit exploded right where the owner indicated he felt some rapid heat buildup. I specifically cautioned about heat and shock impact on the polymer. I can't believe you guys are still trying to defend and justify the use of these kits...

Mods - I think we're running dangerously close to criminal liability here. Before someone seriously injures or kills themselves with one of these kits, I think this thread should disappear.

I have never defended the use of this kit. Trying to understand the failure and the cause of it, is not an endorsement of its use or safety. Neither is this thread a liability to CGN. As a dealer I bet you would like to see threads like this disappear, kits fail sometimes. The failure of one kit does not necessarily mean they are not suitable (again not endorsing it). Someone bought a kit that is significantly cheaper than a similar product to see if it was viable. Let's say someone has an archangel or marauder kit that breaks, does that mean they are all crap? I do think the people trying this kit out should exercise caution and use appropriate safety gear. These kits are sold out everywhere, I would expect to see many more failures if it is truly unsafe. By the way I do not own nor intend on buying one of these kits and do not sell firearms accessories or airsoft parts.

I'm going to be the one to buck the trend here. I think the polymer of the kit is fine, the muzzle shroud is wrong, as it wasn't designed for a firearm. The stock just holds the gun, nothing more, and is very solid. All the parts are dimensionally identical, and probably from the same mold. The only area critical is the area just in front of the pistols muzzle. By being shorter, the muzzle shroud allows the expanding gasses to interact directly with the polymer stock, and could not possibly be expected to last. The whole concept is based on that metal sleave being there. I'm amazed it lasted 100 rounds, frankly.I'll bet if you take the airsoft muzzle shroud, and put it on a real Roni, you get the same results, and, I'll shoot either one with the proper muzzle shroud, albeit, wearing eye protection.

Stick that in yer pipe and smoke it.

*** UPDATE ***

At first, I want to express my gratitude toward the owner of airsoftparts.ca who were really comprehensive toward all the problems that I had with these kits.

This guy has an awesome customer service!

First time, when he shipped my first roni copy, it was destroyed by Canada Post in the shipping (see post HERE)

Second, the guy was really cool on giving me updates of his new shipment arrival of Ronis for Christmas time.
He sent me back a new Roni by Express post, the minute he had one, so I was able to offer the Roni as a gift to a friend of mine...

Finally, happenned what you guys know happenned at the range with the Black Roni.

After speaking with the owner of airsoftparts.ca and even if there was no warranty on airsoft products, especially when I am using it on something it wasn't intended for (Firearms),
he decided to send me a tan version out of his own pocket!

I received the Tan version of the Roni today and I must tell you guys, it's WAY better built than the black versions...
The muzzlebrake have the right direction muzzle vents (12 o' clock) NOW and Push Pins (front and back) are working properly now.

I'm pretty sure now that even Tan version ARE STILL COPIES and not real Ronis from EMA, even if they have the EMA Tactical and Little Tactical Guy logos...

So here's the new Roni I received...
