Ross Found Hanging in the rafters

I'm jealous. After my father finished his WWII tour, he wanted something to bring home. He found a Mk II Ross in a London, UK pawn shop and bought it. It sat above our basement bar for as long as I can remember. I used to play wth it, trying to open the bold, and scraping my thumb on it many times. Then one day, some 40 years ago now, I came home from school and in the place of the Ross was a Lee Enfield No1!!! WTF!!! My father traded it.

Last year I called the guy who traded the rifle, but he sold it 20 years ago.

I have actually tracked it down, by going to the Ross net group and asking if anyone had bought a Ross from this well known gun trader. Yep, sure enough, someone in Oklahoma!! But he wont sell it back to me. That sucks. I'd really like to get it back...

My father used to own a Ross that was redone to 300 mag (cant remember exactly which one now) but he sold it to his sister's husband for protection while camping. He took it out once and it sat in his closet ever since. Not sure whatever happened to it though since he moved and moved all his stuff into storage.

Great thread,I get alot of enjoyment out of my two, one cut down and rechambered in 303 Epps Improved which is my moose gun and a safe queen that took a year and a half to find all the wood and parts to almost put it back to original. Had thought the barrel was toast as it would not shoot the reloads that my No.1 Mk111 loves but a fellow club member gave me some surplus which the No 1 hates but the Ross will easily do a 1-1.25" group. Time for new load developement.

The rifle was still original metal but the stock had been bubba'd, collected every part but that small piece of wood that sits above the barrel between the two bands. Happen to mention my problem one day to a couple of members and I find out one has that part and a stockless Ross. He didn't care what the stock looked like as he just wanted to shoot it so a trade was made. All that is now missing is the two sling attachments.
