Rossi Ranch Hand calibers

Just curious what everyone is thinking of in terms of caliber for these Ranch Hands?

Replies should be limited to serious buyers / pre-orders only.

Based on the general discussion around the subject, i think the 357 mag will be just a hair more popular, but the 44 mag will be right on the heels, with the 45 being bought but in lower numbers.

Guys who just want a 'fun gun' will probably generally prefer the 357 - shoots the very economical 38 special as well and has less recoil for a long day at the range.

Guys who are thinking of it as also being a viable hunting/bear defense gun will likely favour the 44 mag.

However - i'm not sure how much 'say' wanstalls will have in what they get. I think the supplier will simply say 'you can have x amount of each in your order' and they won't get as many of any cartridge as they wish they could get.

I suspect these will fly off the shelves regardless of cartridge and a bunch of people will be patiently waiting for the next order to come in if they don't put their name down fairly early.

I would be tempted to get both 357 and 44mag seeing as how I already have levers in both but would like a 45colt also. Might have to get a full stock model also.

If I was to get one, I'd definitely go with 45 Colt, for the added power and coolness

I'd get a 44 magnum if I wasn't a handloader.

I seriously thought of that, but somehow think that demand is going to exceed supply at least this first order.

I have a question.........I have heard that lever guns in .357/.38 occasionally have feeding problems with the .38 special loads due to OAL issues. Does anyone know of or has anyone heard of such problems. I can vaguely recall reading about this in several threads a long time ago, either on this site, or others. Would this be an issue to think about when looking at these as a bear defense gun? I am sure .357 is decently powerful enough as a bear defense load if needed. But if buying for a fun gun, I am sure .38 loads will be on the menu for such shooters. Thats one of the reasons I voted for .44 mag, as I don't trust .38/357 lever guns personally.
