RPD Update.

It isn't over for the RPD. No need for knee jerk panic. It has a newly made receiver so it can't be called a converted auto, and it is not a variant of a firearm named as prohibited by order in council. These are the only two ways the lab can classify a gun as prohib. Unless the government issues an order in council prohibiting the rpd, or belt fed, or something that could link the RPD, it will be fine.

SCCO.

You're forgetting one other way they can prohibit a gun ; if they say that it can easily be converted to FA.

The ATF lab says it can't be, and they say why in detail. The FRT lab has the ATF lab report.

Which goes back to why the RPD will be approved.

- Not prohibited by Order in Council as a variant of a named prohibited design
- Not a receiver converted from a full auto receiver, or using any part of a full auto receiver
- Not easily convertible to full auto.

Just going to take time.

Well, I was an ass earlier in this discussion on the RPD, but with how Dangertree and Arms East has been helping with the current Swiss Arms issue, I'll pull my foot out of my mouth long enough to commit to buying an RPD if my name's high enough up on the list to get one. Looking forward to hearing more.

A nice combo:

OK this pic hurts. The wait for RPD's is painful, but the newly created fate of the CZ and SA is much more painful.

That being said.. Cool Pic

I'm excited about owning another cool firearm, I'm terrified about our future as a country and as a legal firearms owner.

I'm both terrified of this situation yet glad this happend because now we have the chance( if you keep writing letter to your MP, primeminister and send them follow up letters to let them know what we want and what they are doing) to re write the FA and get it right this time.

Oh I hear you there, I'v been writing and faxing everyday, everyone needs to be as well as joining and supporting the gun orgs.

I hope this doesn't have any implications for these ones. This is from a thread on the Saskatoon Gun Works forum:

In the final hour we have decided not to have our RPD shipped into Canada. With the current status of DSA not being able to make enough for there own market and some back room deals that were made in regards to sales in Canada, it just makes no sense what so ever to spend our money to do the classification.

To all those that have been waiting, I do sincerely apologize.

AEI isn't bringing in the dsa model. AEI said several weeks ago that dsa decided not to fill their order with AEI and would retain the remainder of the dsa RPDs state side.

I guess they don't care to elaborate on what happened to the rifles they had coming in or the thread would not be closed already

Dsa told everyone to pound sand. They have no interest in exporting their version as they can make more by selling them in the US. The parts kits are drying up and they are creating an artificial supply shortage by slowly releasing a few at a time until they sell out. This way they can drive up the price. This was explained by dangertree as to why the AEI order was cancelled by DSA.

Don't forget looks alone(GSG-522).

No, looks alone don't cut it. If you actually delve into those actual classifications and try to understand why, instead of buying into the "they classified it cuz it looks scary" path, you'll be a step ahead. It isn't too difficult to figure certain things out when it comes to classifications.

I'm not saying you should like how it works, just that it is possible to see the process the lab takes if you take the time.
