Rude Landowners

No need to buy another, I farm 3000 acres, so yes, I actually do know what I'm talking about. :)

Components of the 2011 Manitoba AgriRecovery Program

Here's a few websites with a host of assistance programs, should give you plenty of info for a while:

These are all related to the disaster you had in MB in 2011. There is a list of the programs the government offered private home owners and businesses because IT WAS A DISASTER. http://www.gov.mb.ca/emo/home/dfa/

Thanks for providing the links because a did read up on the programs and why the government offer it to Farms, businesses and home owners. Why dont you try better examples, this to me is NOT a farm welfare program but a DISASTER relief program for all because parts of MB had a FLOOD DISASTER.

pikesroad, you're apparently one of those famers that feeds off the proverbial government teat, not surprising considering the socialist attitude that's running rampant amongst most farmers in this country.

Assistance programs should be there as a "hand up", not a "hand out", much like welfare, EI,etc. If you want others to view you as a self employed, hard working individual that can overcome hardship without anyone else's assistance like our ancestors, it's time for a change of attitude.

And now back to the original topic.............

I have found a $25 Timmies Card is a nice gesture and we also give them McD's gift certificates if they have kids !! Then after the season some pepperette's or a stick of summer sausage or other is always appreciated!!!

My family has half a section in Manitoba. Was underwater for a year. Destroyed the buildings. I say this to let you know I'm well familiar with the disaster in MB last year.

My main point is that I am a self employed entrepreneur. As are my two brothers As was my father. As was my grandfather. As was my great grand father. You know, it runs in the blood. Been a family tradition....blah blah blah. And while there were farms in the family a way back, none of us would ever have been described as farmers. We are typical small businessmen.

I for one am sick to death of the never ending bleating by farmers about the need for support. No government agency, no news reporter looking for a human interest story comes running if I run into financial difficulty. If a larger company cones along, drives my business down because they are stronger and then takes that advantage to buy me out at a bargain price there are no stories about their heartless tactics.

Oh, I forgot. It's food! Somehow special, right? BS! We live in Canada. My company sells shoes. No one is making it through a Canadian winter without shoes. Or coats. Or sweaters. Or power for our furnaces. Or insulation for our homes. Or our vehicles. Do I need to go on. There is a ton of stuff that we need to make life in Canada possible. Not just food.

As a Canadian taxpayer for the last 35 or so years, I'd just like to say I am tired of the pretense that there is something special about farming that deserves government funding. Either make a go of it or get out of it.

BTW I feel the same about corporate welfare.

Oh yeah, I don't like rude people, be they land owners or hunters or any one else. They are......rude! LOL
