ruger 10/22 blows up at the range

..the mag had been BLOWN out and was split in half...

Would that be possible that the remaining four rounds in the magazine went boom? That would explain the damage.
But what do I know?

I think its more likely quality control.

the only damage to the rifle is the split stock behind the Tang, and the chips in the metal of the magwell, and the blown apart mag.

I brought my red dot reflex sight home with me ,and I just looked at it, the glass is cracked ,all across.

that made me think it was the rounds in the magazine that cause the damage

It was a double charge period, I did some testing when I was a teen and the exact same thing happened…

I had a 1022 with a dlask barrel years ago, shot incredible, but one range session I used blazer , I would get oob discharges, typically the case came apart at the head and blew the magazine out the bottom. Happened twice in less than a box of 50, I went back to cci and never an issue again.

Even a double charged 22 wouldn't make a rifle fly out of a sled.

Double charge and firing out of battery might cause it.

Not sure how many millions of 10-22 's are in circulation but if they do fire out of battery it's rare as a hens tooth

Was just the blazer branded ones did it, cci standard has always run well in every gun, without hiccups. No different than a car manufacturer, same company makes the hellcat, built the neon.
