Get something from Kidd or Volquartsen. You could also build one with stuff from DLask and Kidd and volquartsen. I am probably on the route to build something. Most likely a short barrel takdown with base parts from DLask. Most likely there will be something from Kidd, Volquartsen, Magpul, and Area 419 in the mix.

So,

I got a 20" Green Mountain bull barr, put it in the otherwise stock receiver, stock trigger, sanded out the stock to fit, and bedded it using JB Weld. 'Problem was' the Fluid Film i used as a release agent didnt work, so i now have a slab of a rifle that has no internal flexation.... will do 1/2" at 50y if i do my part (and feed it the ammo it likes).

Also stepped up my scope game, damn that helped A LOT

I'm curious as well. I got a target lite and while after bedding I gotten about 5/8" groups. I don't think factory 10/22 would make steady 1/2" groups. It could pull the occasional 1/2" groups.
My Ruger 10/22 using SKgold gets 1/2" at hundred yards. Aguila second best with 1"
I only Changed firering pin and extractor with KIDD.

If you want a true half inch gun there’s two approaches! Get hold of Jerry at Mystic Precision. He’s built many very accurate10/22 rifles and has done very well in competitions. Number two approach would be purchasing all the components and assembling your own specific rifle. Depending on what your intended purpose is for the rifle will determine barrel weight, length and stock or chassis configuration. It’s a rabbit hole that can become very expensive IMG_1276.jpegIMG_1277.jpeg habit forming. I have built many in the let five years and Kidd barrels and triggers have worked extremely well and the Volquartsen comp bolt is stellar. This is my last build that I use in CRPS,Outlaw and X22. It’s the most accurate one I’ve built or shot. The parts are Dlask flat top receiver with 30 moa rail,VQ comp bolt, Kidd 2stage trigger,Kidd 20” ss match barrel, adjustable vee block, Kidd buffer, Kidd tapped trigger pins Manners CF stock with Area 419 Arca rail and Heathen brake and tuner. You could buy a top of the line bolt gun for the same $ or less if you choose the hole I fell into

What configuration? Carbine or ? 1/2" groups at 100 is incredible. Pictures of the rifle please and the groups. What scope are you using ? I find after 75 yards the wind really plays havoc with groups.

Are you talking about SK Standard Plus ? (Gold/Yellow Box) Definitely want to see the rifle! Might have to try some SK ammo through my 10/22

Jerry has built some incredible rifles I must say so he would be one person I would chat with if I was building one. I may build the wife one down the road but for now I just enjoy the only LH option available!

I dont post gun pics.
Rifle barrel is standard 18.5"
First thing I did was remove the Barrel ring. Weather it affects the Barrel harmonics or not, I dont like things touching the Barrel.
Been a while since I shot. Weather conditions plays a big part. Been poor weather for a most of the year.

You will read a lot of claims about how good someone's 10-22 shoots and if you spend a lot of money you can have one that shoots as good as semi's get... but none of them will compete with the accuracy of a bolt action. To me semi's are all about quickly shooting off a lot of ammo.

Even if Jerry can build a better rifle than I can, there's a satisfaction from shooting a rifle I built myself. But I did get some of the components from him!

I appreciate the info and direction.
I'm not into match competition shooting. I just want a Semi auto that looks great and shoots as good as it looks. I like to see how well I can shoot 5 shot groups @ 50 Meters. Punching holes in paper . Also will be used for critters ..Chip munks !

I was looking at the Ruger Competition ...love its looks.
Not sure capable of shooting consistent 1/2" groups or less..if I do my part.. mind you I will need a quality scope and I was thinking maybe trigger upgrade & range time to work out the bugs and find out what the rifle likes to shoot.. thats all fun ! I have a ruger 77/22 that will print some good groups but find
I get 1 flyer out of 5 that normally brings groups to 1 1/4" otherwise it shoots pretty good.

I have a 17HMR Marlin VLS that's shoots really well. Has lots of potential.. but I need a better quality scope for it..

All-in fun . So I'm looking at a new 10/22 semi Auto Target / Varmint set up also a CZ 452 or 457 Varmint 22LR

It can be done. but you will have to put some money into it.

I don't know. I have a Second hand Butler Creek Ruger 10/22 with a stock heavy barrel. It does have a DLASK receiver on it though, and I think stock bolt. I bought it this way and is my first 10/22 so I don't know how much a DLASK receiver adds to accuracy, but, rifle is a tack driver at 55 yards.

YMMV but mine seems pretty decent.

I’d get hold of Jerry! He can build you a really smart looking reliable rifle that will easily accomplish your goals for a very reasonable price.

Longstud, your rifle looks very nice, except for the abortion on the end of your muzzle!......:(
This rifle was not built too be good looking, but rather too put bullets in the same place where I steer them. Its done very well winning medals in different types of competitions, CRPS,Outlaw and X22 steel challenge!

Well just like the rest of your story, SK Gold doesn’t exist!!
