Ruger 10/22 vs Savage Mark II

...meant to add...the scopes included in the Savage packages are serviceable, but not great. Don't let the inclusion of one of those sway you towards a "package" gun unless your budget is really tight.

I own a BV and it shoots sub moa out to 150 yds with CCI Stingers. The 10/22 is decent but not nearly as accurate. Do yourself a favour and stay away from Marlin/Remington. They have been having quality issues as of late. The chances of getting a lemon are much higher with Marlington. Dont get the combo you will find that the combos use the cheapest scopes made. Buy a real scope for it and you will not be sorry.

As for the Savage. I've heard nothing but good things about the accuracy. I've never shot one so I can't say from first hand experience. From what I've read it's a great deal for an accurate rimfire. But keep in mind the savings come from somewhere. You'll get a very nice shooting firearm but check one out first to see what you think of the fit/finish.

I've read several places online where reviewers have said that Savage could be selling the target MKIIs for more than they are. Apparently they are a good value, as well as very accurate. The fit & finish of my BVSS seems exceptional. Seems finely crafted and solid.

I bought a savage and it jammed every shot. I found out it was the same as the old cooey which jammed a lot. I returned it to WSS and then bought a 10/22. It jammed 2x per mag. I then got a Marlin and it is accurate and does not jam.

I have both and the savage wins in the accuracy department by a long shot. but on the othere hand the 10/22 is fun to shoot with the 25rd mag. You should also have a look at the CZs a little more money but boy do they shoot.
