Ruger 10-22's......?

If you get your hands on a good shooting stock 10/22, there aren't many .22 semi's better. They are worth it. I'd suggest a deluxe sporter with a walnut stock, mid-2000's or earlier.
The only downside at that point is the mag release and bolt hold open feature, which are relatively easy to fix. The trick is getting a good one, that is very accurate and no jamming.

After many years of only shooting centerfires I picked up an SR22 (Gussied up 10 22) and ... I 'm happy with it. Nice little plinker. Cheap ammo.

Been reading this forum (as my business gets a lot of Canadian nutz customers....rugersuperstore.com/CheapGunParts.com) and I have seen a LOT of misconceptions about how to improve your ruger 10/22. First, feel free to email me if you have a specific question at amputationhelp@Comcast.net....I am an expert 10/22 gunsmith and am always happy to answer questions.
First, the top things that will improve your accuracy are:
free floating the barrel...easy to do and costs NOTHING other than some sandpaper, just sand down the slot the barrel rests in so you can slide a business card under the barrel easily and also remove the barrel band, it is ONLY there for looks..
next (and overlooked a LOT) make sure the end tip of your barrel is smooth without dents or scratches that the round touches as it comes out. many stores (not mine) sell a tool for this.
next, the trigger. Due to fear of lawsuits ruger has put a VERY HEAVY TRIGGER PULL in its 10/22's. this can be either cheap to fix (install a vq hammer or the new ruger trigger pack unit) or expensive like with a Kidd trigger...all depends how deep your pockets are. also a yellowjacket bolt buffer is cheap, tested in university studies, and helps by removing the loud CLANK noise when you fire that also helps keep your scope on target.....also BEWARE stores that want to sell you a ton of stuff. most of which wont help your little $200 rifle shoot better. Now if you want to spend a ton on aftermarket barrels, weird stocks, etc. all of us stores carry that stuff, but few us them will tell you want you don't need to buy...I always will. OH, one last thing, an aftermarket extractor (VQ Power custom, yellowjacket) are all good and help prevent jamming.
I hope this helps, can I also have looked ALL OVER THIS SITE and cannot find where it says how to support your site with an ad...so if any admins can email me the info, please do -Bob
