Ruger 10-22's......?

Looky... If you do get a 10-22, the Butler Creek Steel Lips 25rd mags outlast the plastic Hotlips ones.. My experience, anyway...

Couldn't agree more. Once the triggers dealt with they are quite reliable and accurate. Mine is a 2011 model and performs excellent with very little cleaning. Can't go wrong with one kamlooky, even if you encounter a lemon parts I get them straitened out are cheap.
"Quote" SiverFoxdj Honestly a 10/22 in the right hands with good trigger control can shoot pretty well even at 100 yds

:agree: Trigger job & decent ammo they will perform.

My '89 10/22 sunk to the bottom of the ocean, was retrieved by divers, restored, used like a cheap whore for over a decade and never had an issue outside of an old ramline 30rd mag when it was new. I cleaned it for the first time in 2006. Tens of thousands of rounds through it, never a problem. Its been in over 5 different stocks, had a handful of various barrels, scopes and iron sights. Right now it has a stainless sporter barrel, tech sights and a wood stock stained with Minwax 231 and coated in BC gunstock wax. The barreled action is painted flat black cause stainless is ugly without a finish. It just keeps going. I've never flipped it like a honda civic. Can't say I even know what that means.

Out of all the semi's I have ever bought, it's the cheapest......and also the worst. If you don't mind tinkering and putting parts into an otherwise new gun I'm sure it will work out in the end.

A buddy of mine bought a 10/22 stainless with synthetic stock near the end of summer last year. He upgraded to a Magpul stock, a bull barrel, changed the rail and mounted a Bushnell rimfire scope and it is an awesome shooter.

I have one, the version with a wood stock, blued. I added a Bushnell red dot optic and it's a fun little shooter.

He forgot the trigger...

10/22 "ABC's";

A - Trigger
B - Barrel
C - Bolt

And sometime later... the receiver and stock of your choice.... then you take the original parts, reassemble them and sell the original rifle... cuz you are now shooting a full custom.

And I don't say that spitefully... it is a fun process and you will have a very nice .22 when you are done.

I didn't bother with the Ruger 10/22, built my 10/22 with a Don Stith benchrest stock, Dlask receiver, everything else is all Kidd. Added a Sightron 36X scope and a Harrells tuner. I did use one Ruger part though, the magazine. :d

I just finished building my full custom after replacing parts bit by bit. It took a couple years but now I have two rifles for the price of 8!

I've built 20 or 30 from scratch... usually on some kind of theme... but above I was talking about noobie builds... start with the basic 10/22 and keep modding until you can reassemble the original rifle.

Building from scratch brings me to a sick madness craze of OCD about once a year. It's a fun pursuit of parts once you get exactly what you want in your head. Never EVER think about cost, it will only make you feel more guilty when you start building the next one. :)

The wife always knows what's best. (at least that's what mine thinks);) That said I do humour her, we've been together more than 40 years so I think we are doing something right.

Haha I kind of dismissed the 10/22 because of the rough trigger compared to my CZ but she persevered and takes it to me with that rifle

The 10/22 is indeed fun. I have two that I have spent far too many $$$$ on. That said at 50m they are almost as good as my BSA Martini Internationals & Anschutz. Life is short & I think $$$ spent on nice guns beats leaving it to undeserving relatives.
