Ruger 1022 vs Blazer ammo, KABOOM!

Certainly sounds like it's an incompatibility between the Dlask chamber and the Blazer ammo. I saw a shredded case just like that recently from a guy's Ruger MKIII - he had done a faulty trigger job and the gun fired full automatic. The last cartridge looked like the one in the picture (on the left) and also threw out shrapnel. I think the bolt was not in battery when the last round ignited. If the round is not fully seated in the Dlask chamber it would likely have similar results.

I have fired thousands of rounds of CCI Blazer in various handguns and rifles with no problems whatsoever. It's pretty accurate for HV and so far I've had only a single misfire. So I wouldn't blame the ammunition itself. It's more of a mismatch between the ammo and that particular gun.

my stock 597 digests blazers. maybe a problem with tight tolerenced dalsk barrels?

I agree about the 597 and blazers... after many many brands different ammo (ftfire, fte), blazers are by far its favorite (not a single hiccup through an entire box). I'm going to keep an eye on them from now on though. it seems that coating could cause a bit of a build up.
glad to see OP wasn't seriously hurt.

I.ve never had trouble with Blazers or other HV ammo in any 22, including Henry, Winchester 69A, Cooey, etc.
