What is your experience? I have a 77/44 but haven't fired it yet. Do these pistol caliber bolt actions feed perfectly or do they have their glitches?

I have a 77/44. When the mag has 1 or two shells it feeds fine no matter what. When it has 3 or 4 the bolt needs to be closed with authority or the shell will get hung up. No babying it closed, slam it.

No problems with extraction

I like the gun far too much for this to bother me

My 77/44 feeds fine with everything from 240-300 grain bullets. My only problem was the trigger pull which was solved with a Volquartsen sear.

I have not bothered with the Volquartsen sear for my two as I don't find the triggers bad at all... I may do it at some point down the road, just cuz...

The first generation of mags for 77/357 were tightened too much and fed unreliably.
Easy fix though.
I think current ones are better.

Whats the fix? Wonder if it will work on my 44?

The follower (the rotating thing inside the mag) is (was?) a hair too long and when the assembly screw is tightened it binds.
The fix is to gently grind the rear of the rotor perhaps 0.005" at a time until if spins freely at full tight.
Also there's a possibility the screw is bent. Straighten it.

I bought four spare mags for my two 77/44's from Brownell's... in case anyone is looking... worked out to $40 per mag to my door.
