YouTube coughed up a recent video of Hickock 45 shooting one. He talks about them like Ruger is still cranking 'em out, but I was of the impression they weren't. Their website lists an MSRP, so I think they're still making them.

Haven't seen one, though. And I'd like one very much.

What have you heard?

No idea why the price is more apart from maybe inflation or tariffs? But the retails that have them listed are definitely in the 1600 range. I agree that seems too high for what it is.

Inflation + scarcity. Ruger stopped production for a few years, didn't they?

They seem a very handy little thing for shooting small to medium sized deer at modest ranges. Light and slim. Throw a red dot, or a 2x scope on there and now you have a Magic Deer Killing Stick.

Don get me wrong my m77/357 is my favourite and most used gun, I mean with me everyday on the farm. but at 1600 I would pass

They are extremely handy and useful most used tool on the property. Easy to carry and the removable mag makes it easy to keep safe when getting in and out of multiple different trucks and equipment but not worth 1600

Holy ####! I bought mine used at a gun show 10 years ago for 500. Bought the 44 mag version brand new 6-7 years ago and it was right at 1000 if I remember maybe 1100

If you do the math that increase isn't all that surprising. Lots of guns have gone up in the ballpark of 50% in the last 7 years. Other Ruger products like the American and Marlin lever actions are in that same boat. Savage Axis has doubled in 10 years. Tikka, Browning, Winchester... basically everyone has gone up substantially.

They were out of production for a few years (2015-2020) but they've since resumed limited production.

Just be aware, they are surprisingly snappy due to the light weight.
Snappy? Compared to what? A 22 short? I taught a five-year-old to shoot with mine.

Definitely a great rifle and I love mine, but never found the accuracy quite to my standard. If it would print a clover leaf at 50, I’d be much happier. Especially for the price these days.
