My dad loves his 375. "Eat right up to the bullet hole" he says.
9 years later and I don't know anyone other than gatehouse that owns a 375 Ruger, and I don't really know him. But here in the interior of BC, I know a few people with 375 Holland and Holland's. Guess it's still the king![]()
Gate just likes to get all us old guys revved up. Years later I do agree that its size and capacity makes it an excellent choice and it’s very good in short guns, so is the H&H. Mines an H&H though. The .416 is good too but the REM Mag is better.9 years later and I don't know anyone other than gatehouse that owns a 375 Ruger, and I don't really know him. .416 REM Mag better in which way?
I've had Sako 85 in 375 H&H and loved it.
Now have a Ruger in .416 Ruger. Love that also.

Some things are just boringly good. They work, and they have worked for like a hundred years. I don't care about a couple percent better. Normal user won't tell the difference. Animal sure won't.Lots of people like obsolete stuff like the H&H cartridge. There is nothing wrong with enjoying obsolete items like vintage cars, motorcycles, guns and cartridges.
The H&H cartridge is like a rotary telephone or a black and white TV. While they will still work, there are better options available.

Yes, people should use what makes them happy. If they enjoy using obsolete cartridges then that's would they should use!
My current .375 is a Ruger no.1, in H&H it’s cool. If it was a 375 Ruger, you’d just have to ask why. HahaYes, people should use what makes them happy. If they enjoy using obsolete cartridges then that's would they should use!
I was looking to add one to my stable for sometime but never found one in stock during that search. I ended up buying a Ruger Guide Gun in 338WM and a CZ550 in 416 Rigby instead.I'm surprised there isn't more love for the Ruger .416.
An African ctg in an affordable and very good/reliable Ruger platform.
Mine's in stainless. It's not too heavy but is no more than a 12ga. kick.
The Remington can launch 400s at 2500 and 350s fast enough to rival .375s. Had several, they work good. Had the Rigby too, even more. So much more powder does make for big recoil. It definitely goes faster though.I was looking to add one to my stable for sometime but never found one in stock during that search. From all accounts the 416 Ruger is the better choice for reloading, more affordable factory ammo costs and less recoil.
