Ruger American Ranch gen 2 in 5.56 is nowhere to be found?

Yeah the Gen. 1 is just fine and a perfectly serviceable rifle. I have one in 5.56.

The Gen. 2 is objectively a higher quality product.
Its objectively higher quality in non performance related areas imo. The nice extra features are just that, nice. If you want to pay the extra more power to you, but you will have a rifle that performs identically to a gen 1. If anyone is planning to buy one to shoot groups with or hunt or what have you, save yourself some cash and grab a gen 1. If you really absolutely have to have that spiral fluting because it looks so damned cool (it does, and its as valid a reason as any to buy one) then wait for the gen 2. My personal opinion is that the RAR was so popular because it was a cheap no nonsense workhorse. Moving it towards a more in vogue offering doesn't appeal to me in any way, because that's getting into CZ territory, and if im going to be paying extra for essentially the same performance but in a nicer quality package, id just buy the CZ. But again, to each their own, all are fantastic guns, each can justify the pricing of whatever purchase they choose to make using their own reasoning, my reasoning is just based on saving money to put into ammo to shoot the gun more.

Probably just a me thing... But I REALLY hate those splatter stocks lol
The spiral doesn't look great to me, specially on the shorter barrels.... I prefer the looks of a fluted barrel but I'd be fine with a plain barrel, even more so if it lowered the cost.

The cerakote and bolt lock on the safety are nice improvements.

I was waiting on a Gen 2 in 7.62x39, could not find one locally to put my mitts on before buying. I had held a Gen 1 and was not impressed by it. I since have found a CZ 600 Alpha in 7.62x39, brand new for $600. Bought it and have no regrets. 1.25" groups with cheap ammo on a windy day. Smooth action and nice feel to the stock. Now to get some dies and bullets and tailor up some loads for it.

Are the actions any better on the Gen 2 vs the gen 1? Not as loosey goosey retracted and a lot smoother lift?
My gen 2 in x39 wasn't loose but it had a hard lift. Had to break position every shot to cycle it. My gen 1 was in 5.56 and had an easier lift but looser and made more bolt noise (despite what I heard, my Gen 2 didn't get rid of the signature ranch bolt noise, although perhaps lessened it). Cycled both 50 times or so and greased before shooting.
