ruger compact 260 mountain goat wich scope?

The scope is a component that may cost roughly the same as the rifle. It is an essential element to the enjoyment of the hunt. The variable scope allows considerable latitude in your hunting experience. With a fixed power scope, you should be able to decrease the scope cost percentage and as you increase the quality of the scope in the variables, the cost of the scope can surpass the cost of the rifle. My only fixed powers is on a rifle used for rimfire silhouette and 22 BR. My other scopes range from 2.5 - 10 through 6 - 24. As you age and can afford more the trend towards higher power variables becomes a necessity. Enjoy your hunt but don't scrimp on optics be they on your rifle or hand held "bigockulars".

the country. good luck and hunt hard

I would check the weights of different scopes, especially because of the rifle being a compact. I would suggest a Leupold VX2 3-7x 33 mm scope. I think Leupolds are a bit lighter than the equivalent Busnells. The Leupold is $397 from P&D a CGN sponsor

I just picked up my Ruger compact from the sea plain base.
A budy gave me a scope to use and the rifle is so light and handy it's like handling a 22lr.
I bet this rifle is going to see a lot of hard miles this year thanks guys
