Ruger Deerfield 99\44 .44 Mag

yes I did! Sorry about that. I feel better now. I'm right in that ball park with a little extra for the shipping & ins. I did get a spare mag and a nice B-day gift and some kind of black leather thing that has 2 slots in it and Velcro's together, it's about 2 1/2 - 3 inches long and about 1 inch in dia. I'm too embarrassed to ask Doug what the hell is it!

Thats a scope protector....the Deerfield throws brass up and to the right which can hit your scope. Putting that on the scope above the action keeps your scope yellow-brass mark free :)

I have owned three of the second series. They stopped calling them Deerslayer due to another gun company already having a gun of that name. The second version was called the Ruger 44 Magnum Carbine. I have one of them still. I love it for short range deep bush applications. I don't run optic but have put a better front sight on. Picks up fast and the gun is very light and easy to use.

I just snatched up the one listed for $1500 cant wait too get her I did deal abit too get her but im actually looking for a few if anyone has another please contact me the prices are inflated but i figure their like the old winchesters they dont seem to be dropping in price any time i look and the 44 is such a sweet rifle to hunt with my gang of ten men every member has one when we clean our deer we can eat the meat right too the bullet hole not like those magnum meat wasters

I get why manufacturers drop models from time to time, but Ruger could make good hay by bringing back the 44 carbine.

Ruger never made a rifle called the Deerslayer. Ithaca made a shotgun with the trade name Deerslayer. When Ruger first issued its .44 mag carbine Bill Ruger named it the Deerstalker. When he became aware of the Ihthaca Deerslayer he dropped the Deerstalker name because of the similarities in the name and re-named it the “Ruger .44 Carbine".

I was hoping that one could import this carbine from US at a good price and make it worthwhile.

Is that the case at all?

As the link is showing 'one of a kind' unfired and above average priced firearm.

First year production-1961....just over 1300 units made.
in 1962, there was a large block of serial numbers REMOVED and serial numbers range from just over 1300 to about 65,ooo.
I have a brand new 1962 model in the 50,000 ser.# range with about 50 handloaded 240 gr JHP thru it .purchased with a couple boxes of original NORMA ammo... do I think its really worth OVER $1ooo ? NO but would I sell it for less than $1ooo ?again,no..... simply because "There Ain't no more !!!!!!! I also have a 1961 4 didget ser# unconverted 44mag.Superblackhawk that was bought Brand new and has about 150 rounds thru it... same deal,. it probably is not worth $1000 but to a collecter it probably(In its condition) is...Would I sell it for less??? NO!!!!
Sometimes, its just NOT about the money!!!!!!!!!

Heu guys, got a question for the Ruger gurus out there.I have a 1979 44 carbine with a rear sight that I haven't seen on any other 44's.Just wondering if this is from the factory or aftermarket.I inherited the rifle from my FIL and he was the only owner.

Either the original open notch rear sight was damaged or the owner didn't like its flip up feature. That sight is a replacement (in my opinion).

I picked up a new in box Deerfield on here a few years ago for 1200 and was worth every penny , just an awesome little bush gun That draws lots of attention , Have 20 shots through it now and several deer stopped in their tracks , I'm probly a little twisted but would pay a premium if I needed another one
