Are these the exact same ones as sold in the US, or is it a 'Canadianized' version with a longer factory bbl?

I know they look better (at least to me) when short, but why would anyone want to modify such a beautiful shooting gun? The 6" is perfect. In fact it is so nice, I bought it twice!

I would like to know what kind of results anyone has had with the shorter barrel. I'm assuming your groups would open up a bit, at least due to the decreased sight distance.

I haven't compared a 6IN one but mine shoots great groups. comparable to my kimber with 106mm barrel. (and its dead on accurate)

It's the same frame, with a slightly longer barrel. And contray to popular belief, this is not a "Canadianized" gun, but a gun that was created for the California market, which has a similiar law in regards to 4" barrels as we do.
Cheers

Actually, for some of us old folks, the shorter barrels shoot better. Depends how your sight deteriorates as you age. - dan

Still looking for one of these beauties in SS. I'm such a procrastinator. I could have got one when they first came in....but nooooooo..just had to wait for other peoples verdict on it.

All of Canada probably has the same market hold as the State of California. Surprising that Ruger would play ball and make such a factory specific barrel size.

Ruger has been onboard with the National Firearms Association's member magazine, Canadian Firearms Journal, as a paid advertizer for quite some time now. The guys at Ruger have been great and very sympathetic to the plight of legal gun owners in Canada. They make good guns and I would hope everyone who is in a position to do so, would opt to pick up one of these great revolvers; and show Ruger that Canadian shooters appreciate that extra effort! Do that and perhaps other manufacturers will follow Ruger's example!:)

I have a set of wood grips comming for it and a Bianchi holster too.
