Seems that the Hawkeye Scout has been removed from Ruger’s website. They have a Lipseys dealer special American Scout only. Its interesting as there seems to be more shorter barreled, suppressor oriented carbines from most manufacturers, so it’s not like a GSR style rifle seems out of place. Maybe just too expensive for many?

The normal Hawkeyes are MSRP right on C$2000.

Interesting to watch the evolution of sporting rifles. The ‘middle ground’ seems to be smaller now, with most trending to more affordable options, and the upper tier rifles coming from fewer manufacturers? Has the growth in custom actions, prefit barrels, stocks etc. catalyzed this?

I don't see it listed either. I bought one about 2 weeks ago from Crappy Tire ( Merry Christmas to me ) and I'm glad I didn't wait much longer. I doubt remaining stock in Canada will last long

They have both the ranch and security with AI mags too now. The race to the bottom continues.

It's funny, I was just thinking i want one of these. I absolutely lusted after one in my early 20's when they were the hottest thing around. Thing was they cost something crazy like 1100 bucks. It would be fun to have one to prove I finally made it lol.

Too bad they're collectibles now.

I have to say, thought they're likely polymer, I like the sights on the ranch scout.

A very nice rifle ; but with a 16 inch barrel and 10 round mag ; it will probably be banned as well after the Liberals are done scooping up all the semi autos ; and start setting their sights on bolt actions in their never ending gun grab .

The Ruger GSR is an interesting rifle since it has a true mauser 98 type action with a non rotating extractor and a fixed ejector, also like the original mauser 98 it has a stepped barrel contour which I do not think exists on any either modern rifle.

They are a push feed when fed from the AI magazine. I have owned four and not one was CRF in any way shape or form.

Doh...I sent a brand new one in for warranty work to do with the stock....Hopefully I get it back.

The Scout concept has slowly fallen out of popularity and with the manufacturing costs being driven up for so many reasons, along with the remaining demand for a rifle that has sights AND an optic at the same time, the transition to the American platform makes sense for Ruger, in an attempt to keep the price below $900 USD. They recently refreshed the Hawkeye platform with a bunch of new models, they are $1499 USD MSRP, for a basic rifle. The Hawkeye Scout would be $2k. That is a lot for a niche platform.

Can someone give me the elevator speech on how Ruger sells its guns? Is Lipsey's their default wholesale distribution channel?
