Why does Ruger put a ####ing brake or flash hider on every firearm they come out with? christ
It sure seems odd. I guess they think it's a selling feature and that everyone wants a brake now....

I read they put one on the 450 BM because of the recoil and it being a budget gun and most people will not drop an expensive scope on it. Don't know if there's any truth to that, I think it was a shot show post or something like that. I want one, have the same rifle in 223 and love it. Excellent value.
Is this the line for the tough guy contest or something? Or have you just never fired a 300 grain bullet?
In what universe would this "recoil like a .308"? I own its ballistic twin in a very light rifle and you bet your ass it recoils more than a .308.
Also 250 grain FTX is not the only bullet avaliable for this caliber from Hornady, any 454 casull/45 long colt bullet will work.
My shotgun w/1oz slug going 1550 recoils about 55 ft/lbs

Yeah, yeah I know when to stand down. I'm the ####### here.
The rifle still recoils more than .308, significantly so? I guess not.
Sorry for derailing the thread, as you were.
We can all agree the rifle doesn't recoil enough to warrant a break at least...
You can just take it off and screw on the supplied thread protector if it bothers you that much?
Looks like a fun little fad rifle that one would play with for a while and get tired of pretty quick.
My m77 375 Ruger Guide Gun is at the gunsmith right now getting threads cut off and recrowned.
I'm somewhat interested in this 450 Bushmaster Scout rifle. If they build one in left hand I'd be probably getting in line. I have the Scout 308 and love it, a specialty oddball big bore would be fun, and useful in the brush.
