Ruger Gunsite Scout now offered in composite stock.

Sorry, I meant the flash hider.

I'm pretty sure the decibel level with/without a break has been posted before and if my memory serves me right, the break adds about 20DB. I know that my PWS turned my Tavor into a cannon compared to the A2 style flash hider.

I think Ruger has some kind of proprietary muzzle brake that they claim does not make the rifle louder. Check the video below on the guide gun which has the same removable brake where they measure how loud the rifle is with and without. Measurement is at about 2:30.

Any word on these? I hate that the Canadian version is gimped. I want the threaded muzzle, and I don't want stainless. And the black composite is ###y as all hell.

Polymer / composite is always nice. I tend to baby wood stocks as well, party why I sold my Scout, I just didn't want to damage it with rain, snow and tree rubs while hunting. I could be tempted to buy another one with a polymer stock. Personally though, I would love to build something similar on a T3 action.

Already been done for ya.... Tikka CTR!
Got one coming...

This is a review of the new edition to the Ruger Scout range. The reduced weight is an improvement compared to the original ones with the laminated stocks. I think the Tikka mentioned in the previous post or the Tikka compact which is considerably less expensive are also worth considering along withe the Mossberg MVP.

The CTR is very very high on my "to-buy" list, I just haven't been able to actually handle one and see how the balance feels with the medium/heavy barrel on it.

The one downside ... No iron sights. I don't know what it is about iron sights but I really really like havin them on rifles.

I heard the .223Cal variant will be available in Canada late spring- early summer 2015.

It's my "go to" .308 ... and I like the gray laminate stock.

The 5.56/.223 is already here. I got mine from Prophet River three weeks ago. I would order just the stock from Ruger. Then just swap it out between my Scouts. I really like the laminated stock but if I can get a lighter composite I will.

I hate to say it, but I checked out the new composite stock and I personally don't like it. The trigger guard is moulded into the stock. No magazine liner like on the laminated stock.
