Been eyeing up the Ruger Mark III Target bull barrel 22lr... have read good reviews .. huge price difference between dealers though.. as much as $60-$70 from lowest to highest.
Just need to be convinced that it is the real deal in .22 pistol or not!!!

If you can find one, buy it, nuff said.

If you find one and don't buy it, pm me so I can buy it.

Great pistol, reliable and accurate, I particularly like the hunters barrel fluting.

I have tried/owned almost all the better 22 pistols and always come back to the Ruger mk series.

-proven design
-Steel components (distinctly lacking on the newer "clones"- gsg, m&p etc..)
-NOT difficult to take down despite rumors (ppl can't follow simple directions?)

I have a Mk.1, and the Mk.2's and 3's are no less accurate:

It is by far the most accurate pistol I own.

I had one 25 years ago and sold it. When the time came to return to target shooting, there was no thought of anything else. They are amazing. Solid, tough, accurate and will probably feed anything. You will not be disappointed. You can also get some nice grips etc for them.

I bought a mk ii target for my first handgun and will never part with it. I like it enough that when a 6 7/8" mk iii hunter caught my eye, I bought it too. You can never have too many of them.

There is 4 Ruger Mark III Target at The Ultimate Hunting Store, $434.99, 819-243-8414, they ship anywhere in Canada.

I also got a Hunter with fluted barrel. Love it.
I like their new ergonomic grip on it. It's not what I have on mine though.

I just picked up a "Hunter" model, and it feeds everything I tried, and is accurate as hell!

The "Hunter" model is absolutely gorgeous as well. ;)

I just picked up a blued target model from Reliable today for $379! They still had 2 or 3 more in stock. Internatinal Shooting Supplies had a stainless target in stock for $589.

The Rugers are nice guns. But then so are the Browning Buckmarks. And S&W Model 41's.

Out of the box the Browning and S&W have nicer triggers than the Ruger. But the Ruger has far more of an aftermarket to fix any such issues.

I have a Mark II target model that I take to just about every range session and put 100 rounds through. Great way to warm up for shooting centerfire.

I believe the Mark III has some extraneous 'safety' features that make some people prefer the earlier models, and it's still pretty easy to find extra magazines for the Mark II. However they are all very durable, shootable pistols. The money you save on ammo vs. shooting centrefire will very quickly counteract any 'steepness' you find in the new selling price. IMHO, of course.

Love mine only pain is the first couple of times you take it apart and put it back together are difficult. I also mounted a red dot on mine but because mine came so stiff I cannot do a through cleaning unless I take off the red dot. I know clean as much as I can and do thorough cleanings every 5 or 10 range visits.

Enjoy

They say if you are looking for a reliable .22lr handgun you have two choices, a revolver or a Ruger. Cant go wrong with the mark series pistols, I way eyeing a mark III 22/45 target myself for $299 but when I called to buy it it seemed that someone had already snatched it up :(
