Ruger Marlin 1894 stock damage from UPS?

Ruger/Marlin would replace that stock under warranty no problem. The guy that bought this got a good deal, I hope he contacts them and gets a stock replacement for free.

Did the dealer send you a new rifle? And was the stock a nicer piece of walnut? I would have been shocked if the dealer did not take care of this.
Bought a Bergara B-14 HMR Instead, and I definitely lucked out with that purchase, shoots better than any rifle I’ve owned.

I still have my 44 version of the Marlin and although the wood on that one feels more dense… it’s definitely not the same quality as my older walnut stock rifles.

Why?

It seems perfectly fine to me for a dealer to sell a damaged product at a price reduction.

Especially if one knows how to get a warranty replacement. I would suspect that Ruger/Marlin would replace that damaged stock if one told them the truth and how this all came about......:)
They will replace the stock but told me it would be three months minimum.

I figured they would. And yes, warranty can be a long time frame.

I would have glued and repaired that broken stock and used it while waiting for the warranty replacement.

But I am glad you got a different rifle.

UPS is the worse excuse for a company. I shipped out a scope mount that week. I had my own label with all address info on a re packaged small amazon box, the employee some how printed a new label and attached it to a random package and sent my buyer a pair of jeans.

These Morons can't even manage one package at a time. They also damaged a rifle I got last year so bad the site broke off like It was tossed off a building.

Needless to say I'll gladly wait for CP again

I’ve never saw anything like this. Got this package from UPS from Gotenda. I put in a warranty claim and filed a damages claim with UPS. I’m stuck with this broken piece of junk for now. Any suggestions? Should I be sending it back?

Update 1: 2024/11/02 Requested a refund from Tenda.

Update 2: 2024/11/04 Tenda sent a return label. I’m impressed with the customer service at this point.

Much better service than I got from SFRC when I opened up a brand new Rossi r 92 with an action that wouldn't close.

I ordered bulk ammo once, Tenda shipped as 3 separate boxes through UPS. same tracking number and boxes said 1/3, 2/3, 3/3.
UPS left just one box 2/3 at my door, and marked the whole order as shipped, since UPS marked the item delivered, UPS kept telling me they delivered my package and completely ignored the fact that it was three boxes. My only guess is it was stolen internally through UPS, but was sent correctly by Tenda. 1300$ worth of goods and ammo in the wind. Tenda didn't care to help since UPS said they delivered it. Never shopped with them since

Glad to see Tenda keeping up to expected standards of helping you out!

UPS delivered 5 different parcels of ammo and a shotgun I ordered to an Amazon warehouse a few years ago. The parcels all arrived on different days, even after calling ups to tell them the screwed up on the first day, they continued to deliver the rest of the order to Amazon. The incompetence was mind blowing, my address was correct and clearly visible on the parcels and nothing like the address of Amazon’s warehouse, UPS customer service was absolutely useless. It was a nightmare and took over a month to recover the parcels from Amazon

Good advice, I don’t think Tenda would leave me out to dry. You only have 90 days to file a charge back. I waited for screws for my pc carbine for longer than that through warranty. Reading other’s experience with shipping reimbursement it’s sometimes takes 3 weeks to 6 months from UPS.
Let me guess, one or more of the screws that hold the takedown assembly into the reciever?

Wow!....:(

Brutal, Tenda should be ashamed. You ate a good portion of $1300.00? Sorry to hear.......:(

Just FYI buying insurance is a waste of money.
Instead, make sure you purchase with your credit card.
Most cards (visa as an example) has a clause in their agreement with retailers that products must be delivered to customers in satisfactory condition or the customer can get the charge reimbursed on the card by visa. So the retailer is on the hook for the loss and the customer just returns the item.

I had a similar situation with a retailer on here who sold me a defective firearm and then wanted me to go through the warranty process. When I reminded them of the Visa agreement they refunded my money and sent me a return label. (Which overrides any company policy such as “firearms purchases are final”)

Know your rights when you use a CC.

I'll never use UPS again for a firearms purchase. I ordered 2 from a retailer a few weeks back. When they delivered it, they didn't knock or ring the doorbell. The left the box with 2 firearms in it on the outside of my fence in the side alley. Thankfully I had delivery notification set up and went looking for it.

UPS is the worse excuse for a company.

Last week the UPS truck backed in , driver started looking for my box in the back.
He couldn't find it, tracking # showed on vehicle & out for delivery.

He brought it the following day.

Apparently the drivers don't load their own trucks.

I suspect the only reason they helped in this instance was because the OP purchased the additional shipping "insurance". I also suspect the money paid went to a Tenda self insurance kitty and did not actually pay for insurance through a shipper which would have likely taken months to resolve a claim and may have not even been ultimately successful. After reselling the broken rifle and "insurance" fee its quite possible this was net neutral or better deal for the merchant and ultimately a satisfied customer. I still hate the idea of paying extra money on top of the stiff shipping fees you already paid(directly or indirectly).

Not only UPS, all the carrier companies are absolutely horrible to deal with.

And you are right CP is the BESTESTEST!!!!! to ship firearms.

Today after reading this threat, I was very worried because I was awaiting a shipment (two rifles) by UPS.
After several delays, I guess I was lucky, the two rifles arrived, and despite the very dented package (was dropped from 6 feet at least it seems), the rifles were OK.

I will NEVER willingly will deal with any of the Carrier companies, NEVER did I have a positive experience with these morons!

I wish them all to go belly up.

On the other side, there is Amazon, they have without any doubt the best policies and shipping service.

Nah, technically Tenda did, they claimed UPS delivered it meaning my shipping insurance was no longer valid, UPS claimed Tenda only gave them one box on the manifest, which was delivered with proof (UPS did take an image of the one box delivered outside the door, which I received.
After 2 months of shifting the blame i just called my CC, explained them the situation, provided them an itemized copy of everything ordered, and what was received, and they reverted the charge for all the items that were missing.
A week later Tenda sent me an email saying I owed them money, sent them emails from the CC, and their old conversation thread. They never responded after that.
