I bought three of the earliest stainless/canoe-paddle models when they came out (early 90's, I think?...they were of the very first batch of MkII's that were still push-feed) and have kept two of them, in .300 and .338WinMag. They both have new triggers and stocks, and both can be made to shoot 1MOA with little effort. The .300 has been sighted-in with the same handload for at least 15 years now and has never shifted its POI. Very confidence-inspiring to pick up a gun that hasn't been shot in months and put 3 shots exactly where you want them. The 338 in particular shoots almost any handload or factory load well. It has been shortened and equipped with iron sights to create my own "Ruger Alaskan Brush Hunter" (apologies to Savage), and has held its POI equally well. When it was moved into its current stock a decade or more ago, the POI stayed where it had always been. Then, when the barrel was cut and the sights added only a year or two ago, I was happy to see that the POI was STILL in the same spot! Just dumb luck, I know, but it made me smile nevertheless.
Oddly, the third one was a .243 that never really shot all that well, despite a fair bit of time and effort trying to dial it in. Sold it without regret after a few years, to a guy who was happy with 2.5-inch groups.
