ie stock shape and overall gun weight otherwise "felt recoil" as Ken Waters put it :recoil velocity[the speed at which the rifle kicks back]is lower than the .300 magnums giving the shooter a chance to roll with the recoil instead of the sharp punch of the later.And typically .375's are built on heavier platforms absorbing some of the thump.Twice the recoil of a 30-06 with 180gr bullets....we were shooting 300gr factory through a Sako fiberclass last week and it wasn't bad at all [They are a light gun]........HaroldIMO that really depends on the rifle and loads.

A .375 H+H has less felt recoil than a .338 Win mag...........Harold
