Gotta luv the "one ton" Rugers that were done up by VBull Precision!
Thisw one I sold to a memeber here, it's in 6MMBR.
I have the same thing only in 308.
Itty bitty groups at 1K!:D

Hi Cat,

I noticed a posting on another forum by you, where you mentioned selling a Ruger No 1 RSI in 7x57. How did you find the accuracy to be in this rifle when you owned it? Overall, how did you like this rifle?

Thanks, Jeff/1911.

I have a ruger international in 7x57 and it shoots my handloads inside an inch at 100 yards as long as the barrel doesn't heat too much. I hope it answers your question

This was the carbine I sold.

It wasn't a group shooter, for sure, but it did shoot well!
I once watched a very accomplished shooter take that little RSI and hit a clay bird at 200 meters, then a pop can at 25, then a clay bird at 100, in that order.
THAT is what I call super hunting accuracy, but for groups, that clay at 200 meters is right around 2MOA, and 4MOA at 100 - the pop can is big REALLY big at 25 yards.
However, this was not done off the bench but offhand!

Thanks Cat,

What rear sight is that shown in the picture?

Jeff.

I shoot 140 grain win power point but I have shot CIL 170 grain and it liked it as much. Maybe I'm lucky and mine is an exception but I love it as I shot a nice buck this fall with it. 80 yard shot and it fell where he stood

Just to add some fuel. My stainless/laminate in 375 Ruger. Sorry Jeff, but I had to give you another caliber to chew on.

Nice rifle--just like mine ;)
I have almost sold her twice. But every time I get home, hold her for a minute, I change my mind!
Everyone should have at least one in their collection.

Whelen B, thank you so much for sharing the pic of that amazing H&H.

John P., sending a p.m. for your #1 accuracy papers.

Later....

It's on the way:).

Well, since I started this thread I have become not only enamoured with the Ruger #1 specifically, but full stocked Ruger N0 1's (RSI's). So, when I saw the .270 Ruger M77 RSI for sale on the EE here the other day I had to buy it too. ;)

I have a No.1S 45-70 which i like far more than my Marlin GBL. It's so much fun to shoot hot loaded cartridges in. I put a limbsaver, a padded cheek rest and NEG peep sight on it.
I find that some thin cheek padding was much needed for shooting with irons. I really have to press my cheek down to the stock. I also want to file down the safety so the cases fly all the way out and the knurling doesn't chew my hand during recoil.

klar,

Congrats on the deer and thanks for shoring the pic.

I once was concerned about the safety stopping the cases from clearing. I appreciated it when shooting from the bench since I didn't have to chase my brass, but figured it might be a problem in the field.

Fortunately I quickly discovered all it took with was a very slight rotation to either side when opening the lever and the case bounces off the safety and onto the ground. Is this more of a problem with larger cases such as the .45-70 or .375??

Ejected casings from my 375 No.1T sit on top. Its a pain in the a$$ when when your fingers are numb... but I have no inclination to file the top edge of the safety down. Not an issue in my 243 RSI or 303.

Thou with more practice I'm sure one resolve this
