I picked up a Ruger PC from Bullseye. Tons of fun. I sighted in the iron sights then put a Bushnell red dot on it. I had one new in a box so I figured I would give it a try. It works decent. I was thinking maybe buying something a bit better than the Bushnell.

What are you guys running? Any suggests? Thanks.
 
Sig Sauer Romeo 5 on mine (2 MOA dot). Got it when it went on sale somewhere a couple years ago. Word on the street is it is made by Holosun?
I see the Gen II is out now, whatever that gives you extra I don't know.

I have been very happy with it.
 
There are lots of great options, it really depends on how you're going to use it, what your preferences are, and what your budget is. Is there something specific about the Bushnell optic that you're using that you want to improve?

Whatever you choose, one thing to watch for is mount height - Lots of red dot optics will come with mounts assuming they're going on AR-pattern rifles. The comb height on your Ruger stock is quite a bit lower than an in-line AR stock, so you might need a lower mount if a cheek weld is important to you.

The Bushnell works. The red dot isn’t very bright if it’s really sunny out. Yes it would have to be mounted low. I just was curious what people were running. Any Leopold options?
 
I am using a Holosun 510C I pulled off another rifle. It's a bit chunky but sits low and has a nice field of view. The shake awake is really helpful for a forgetful person like myself.
 
You don't say which model of Bushnell red dot your are using but if it's a TRS-25 I think you're good to go as is. I have one on my Ruger PCC and it has been fine. Mount height is not excessive, price is right, they are quite compact and the reviews re dependability are pretty good for an economy red dot.

A (possible) minor down side is that it's a 3 MOA dot which may be bigger than some people want but for a 100 yard or closer gun 3 MOA is not excessive and except for the 1 MOA dot on the EoTechs (big $$$) most of the other decent quality red dots mentioned in this post aren't smaller than 2 MOA so not a lot of difference.

Despite it being a solid, dependable firearm the Ruger PCC is not a long range tack driver so spending big money on a marginally better scope is probably not the best investment you could make.

Fair enough. Which Bushnell RDS are you using? They make a few different models.

And, some people like a bit of magnification on their PCCs, is that going to be relevant to you?

Sure, Leupold has a few red dot options - Their Deltapoint line (pistol style, open emitter) and the Freedom RDS line (closed tube). But honestly, while Leupold is an excellent scope company with a great reputation in that field, they are really not special when it comes to red dots. The technology is just different, and doesn't benefit much from Leupold's long history of making great magnified optics.

Red dots are generally more about emitters than they are about glass. If you can handle the political baggage (Chinese company), Holosun is probably leading the pack. They have solid options from about $300 and up. As an alternative on the budget side, the SIG Romeo5 has been available for around $200 recently, and they're good value at that price. At $300 or more, I'm not so sure since there are so many other options available.
 
One more vote for the Holosun 510C. It's versatile, reliable, affordable, and can be easily moved between different rifles if need be. However, for a 9mm PCC like the Ruger, I'd say your Bushnell is more than adequate and don't really need to spend the extra money if you don't feel like it.

I’m using the TRS-25. No issues other than it could be a bit brighter on sunny days. I forget to turn it off sometimes. I just got into the PCC world. Having tons of fun with the Ruger.
 
When I had mine until recently I ran two different red dots on it - both were exceptional. Sig Romeo 5, and Holosun HS515GM. The Sig was a lot cheaper, but still had shake awake, which for me is a must have. I like the Holosun for the fact that I can use it with the glass flip caps not even flipped. The Sig has these cheap rubber lens covers. Both red dots were on the original battery years and many range trips later. Both never lost zero. I do like the Holosun for the clear circle dot.
 
I know this will cause some eye rolling…. I use my PC9 for plinking, mostly reloads with cast bullets. I put an el cheapo Tasco red dot on and it works fine for my non-Olympic class shooting. 👍🏾

Depending on what your use case is will affect what will be best for you.

For close plinking I like the Vortex Sparc II red dot, you can put a flip out magnifier in front of it for a bit of magnification if needed.

For competition I like the C-More Railway red dot.

I don’t have any scope suggestions as the only scopes I have are overkill for a PCC.
 
just bought my first PCC, looking for an optic for mine, after much research I have come to the conclusion that I would like the Holosun 510c. Now to find one!!!
