Ruger PC Carbine

Did some research, I just ordered an optic from Tenda (site sponsor) for the Ruger PC, looks like a winner:

Made by Weaver for Gander Mountain (who went bankrupt) priced $299US, rebranded by Bushnell, and offered to specific dealers. And, comes with a mount !

Looks like a good deal for sure, the mount will be a bit high for the Ruger but easy enough to find some lower rings.

speaking as a fella who has a SR9, i was a little disappointing that the magazine that came with the rifle didnt work in the pistol.
but upon looking at the 2 mags side by side its obvious that its just the base that is different.
one has a floor plate while the pistol one has a plastic extension piece.
id imagine that a fella could order up those plastic pieces from Snapshot and swap over the bottoms if he where so inclined.

I emailed Ruger before Christmas asking if it's possible to get longer bases sent up and to also perhaps use there 10 round SR9 mags that already have the longer base going forward with future exports..... never heard back.

Well, let me see if these pictures work....my first time using Imgur.

This is the 20" steel toolbox from Princess Auto mentioned a couple of pages back.

To fit the rifle, you have to remove all butt-spacers.

Make sure to Loctite your mag release button bolt.

Had mine just about back all the way out yesterday and I probably would have lost the button, bolt and spring in the snow.

That happened to me as well. Also my charge handle bolt backed out. I had removed both when I first received the gun, so either I didn't torque enough or they just need thread lock.

The charging handle on mine came with thread locker on it, but none on the mag release.

Don't care how long it takes. The 44 is what started this design decades ago, it will be back

The changes needed to get it working with a cartridge like .44 mag would leave you with an entirely different firearm. Perhaps some aesthetic similarities but you aren't gonna get far trying to make a cheap, blowback rifle in .44.

If you say so. The 10/22 and even this design are all based off of the model 44 carbine that came out in 1961. They even re designed it in 2000 and called it the Deerfield (lower prod cost) and added a rotary magazine.

A modern version using desert eagle pistol magazines is a real possibility

Anyone having issues with their bolt catch?

I noticed lately that when I'm taking down or putting the rifle back together, the bolt will suddenly release and fly forward.

Based off is a bit of a stretch..... it might happen at some point but doubt it will be the first or second caliber choice offered if they do offer different calibers.

Brian what do you envision.... tube fed, the rotary mag, or a double stack of some sort?

They are not based off of it, influenced perhaps. The fact that it is gas operated is the first glaring and obvious difference. I am not saying we couldn't see a bigger carbine in the future but it won't be close to the PC.

Desert eagle mags, they work. It's not like Ruger isn't in the business of building guns that use other manufacturers mags from the get go.

I emailed Ruger back and forth about this when the new PCC was announced, even called. They are aware of the demand to see the 44 remade. Seeing what they sell for in the us used is a good indication of that

sometimes i am amazed by people.
why on heaven and earth would Ruger have someone answering questions from their info line who has no idea what they are talking about???

i went to try to order the longer base plate for the SR9 magazine so my SR9C magazine that i have will also work in my pistol and not just my PCC.

there is no part number listed anywhere for it, so i contacted Ruger.
got this reply just now.

We do not sell the SR9 10 round floor plates. The SR9C magazine will work in the SR9 pistol.
Regards,
Ruger Customer Service

ive highlighted the part that makes me shake my head.
how...... how!!!!! will the SR9C magazines work in the SR9 pistol when they are obviously several inches too short to even reach the chamber?

i sent a picture back in reply and asked them to draw me a picture with crayons on how im suppose to get the magazine to reach the extra few inches.
i look forward to their reply.
