Who is using optics on the receiver
Any testaments on return to zero after takedown and reassembly
Also I have a mlok one. I wonder how well a rear iron would pair with a front iron on a mlok rail
Also I find the receiver rail is maybe more weaver spec cus some of my pic mount stuff won’t fit on

I only have a 4 moa red dot but zero seems to hold fine even after multiple takedowns.

Thanks folks
Has anyone noticed the receiver rail to be slightly wider than standard
My EOtech won’t fit on it, has me wondering about what optics / mounts would be compatible

This is what I did to mine so that the dot and the barrel always stay together without shifting. Used part of a pic rail I had sitting around and a half hour on the mill and it was ready to mount. The three mounting holes are 1/2" apart so pretty easy to figure out hole spacing. The dot and irons don't cowitness, but it is easily enough to remove with an Allen wrench that rides in my mag pouch.

Couple things to watch for...
Length of screws on the mlok. Longer ones will touch the barrel.
Front rail height. Once you put a pic mount on, your front sight will be higher than the rear.
You either need a lot of available room for adjustment on the sights, or a spacer on the back.
The offset aside, an MBUS flip rear sight needs a spacer. If you put it on the last slot, there is enough room for the lever to pop the sight up. Any other and the lever is stopped by the receiver. Of course, on the last slot it is hanging off the back waiting to get caught on something.

Mine has been good for holding zero so far with a TRS25. Took it apart many times in the past range session with that in mind. Even tossed around a little, to simulate being packed and tossed in canoe. It's not a competition gun though as others may use theirs. Mine is a canoe packer, with 50yds or less intended range.

I am running a full optic on my mi mlok model. Vortex crossfire II 1-4x24. I love my setup and have no complaints with regards to losing zero.

i picked up a Nikon AR scope and slapped it on.
so far i have not had any issues with it loosing zero.
im planning on doing some testing with it this summer to see if it does.
i have a 10/22 take down which of course uses the exact same mechanics and so far with that one i dont loose zero either.

I'm toying with the idea of adding optics to my rifle, just to make shooting easier. But I'm not sure how much accuracy I will gain. I'm getting pretty good groups at 50 yards with the iron sites, and in fact better than I would predict based on what I see for a sight picture. I tried a cheap red dot that was a nock off, probably made for airsoft, but it turned off after every shot. Seems it good for the 10/22 at best. I have a Bushnell TRS-32 red dot I can try, but its kind of unsightly large, and I would prefer to keep the little rifle simple and stream lined. At the very least it will tell me whether there is any accuracy to be gained from a better sight picture. I'm getting roughly 3.5" groups of 10 at 50 yards. Probably good enough for what I intend this rifle for, fooling around.

Adding a battery operated optic means more maintenance, and if the rifle ever had to be used in a hurry, another thing to go wrong, or time wasted turning the optics on. I have a Vortex Viper on a pistol, and to be honest, its a pain in the ass to turn on. They should have built a simpler, larger, quicker to use on button. Right on top of the optic. There is no way that optic could be used for a self defence situation. You would die before you turned it on. But that's another topic.

For the Ruger rifle, maybe a 1x long eye relief scope would be better?

I just put a Vortex Crossfire2 on one of my PPPC. It uses a dial to turn on and off. At mid brightness it is said to last 50K hours
For $199. it is a heck of a deal at that price IMHO.
Take Care
