So I bought a pc9, and now I'm in the process of getting it set up as best as I can for LH use, but with an eye out for being reasonably RH friendly as well.

Currently I have the base model rifle, and a Magpul backpacker stock. I really like the LOOK of the backpacker, but I want my kids to shoot this gun and LOP is a bit much. The factory stock has removable spacers to shorten LOP so for now the backpacker is sitting in a corner.

I like the cornerstone rotary safety. I shoot LH, daughter too, sons are RH, so I want an ambi safety. Are there other ambi safeties available?

What do people like for charging handles?

Are there any chassis options with LH mag releases that you use your trigger hand to activate? For that matter are those style releases any good? Or would I be better off looking at a extended mag release that just replaces the factory release with a bigger one?

Am I missing anything else?

It's sounds like you've got it figured out reasonably well.
Magpul backpacker stock is the best stock for the pc9.
The Ruger factory chassis is the next best , add on a Rim/Edge folding stock, its LOP is about an inch and a half shorter for the kids
And being a Southpaw myself, I can say enough good things about the cornerstone rotary safety for both left and right handed.
There's no second guessing if it's on safe or not , both visual and physical.

Mag release, I use my right hand , so it's on the right side.

+1 for the Jawbone. I’m a lefty as well with RH kids so I put a charging handle on both sides. I prefer the MCarbo extended charging handle. Also, grab an MCarbo Extractor as the factory one is prone to fail.

Thanks everyone this info helps me greatly.

Is there a good source for the Jawbone in Canada? Google only gives me Az tech Ar mory and they have a dreadful reputation (plus the price is $120usd, which seems high when the original manufacturer is selling 'em for $85usd?)

Does anyone know if the Tandomkross Upriser chassis is available in left hand? I can't find anything that suggests it is, but figured I'd double check.

Looks like the ATRS chassis doesn't include provisions for a LH Mag release either?

Why would you think AA has a dreadful reputation?? I know numerous friends, including myself who have ordered from them numerous times and literally NEVER had an issue. They are absolutely fantastic to deal with and are willing to source whatever you are looking for. Not sure where you got the “ dreadful reputation “ stuff but you are 100% incorrect on that, I have no hesitation on using or recommending them, they are stellar to deal with. Realizing they are an importer and it takes some time to arrive would probably help with some peoples unrealistic expectations I guess lol

They are the only company I know of who's name was censored before the big update recently...

Tandemkross everything.
Charging handle, flat trigger, bolt buffer, bolt keeper…. And the muzzle brake works very well on it. We have the vg6 9mm brake

They were censored here for advertising sales without paying like other businesses , has nothing to do with whether or not they have a bad reputation,,, they don’t , they are absolutely dependable
PS- I have no connection to them in any way, just a customer who has had excellent service from them on numerous occasions

They definitely had a bad rep like 10 years ago. Multiple threads about orders not being fulfilled and costumers being ghosted from what I remember.

Maybe they're better these days. If they're the only place in Canada with the Jawbone I guess I'll have to find out if I decide to get one. Lockhart Tactical had a similar rep years ago and now they are producing one of the most popular domestic black rifles so clearly companies can change...

AA is a bit expensive, and you wait a few months (import is once a quarter), but you always get what you ordered. As for Lockhart...
Their rifle might be ok, their customer interaction is still hot garbage...

I bought a PC9 and rotary safety a few months ago. I could not for the life of me remove the factory safety. I brought it to two gun stores and they couldn't figure it out either. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you...
