Ruger PC9 What optic are you using?

Just 20m. Really pleased with those S&Bs, might make them my go-to round. I'll have to see how they behave out at 50m or more. Red-dot becomes more of a limiter at those ranges as I do deal with a small amount of astigmatism so the fringing can become a factor.

Reading through the posts here and it is great info. I hope this not hijacking the post with my questions below.

While searching for info on mounts I have realized I have a minor astigmatism. Not that bad with tje Sparx 2 I have but the Venom I was going to put on the PC is quite bad. Funny thing is my glasses make it worse, not better. So it looks like I need a prism sight or a low powered scope like some of you have installed from each.

Seen a Primary Arms 1x Cyclops for $370 plus tax and shipping. Also have seen the Bushnell AR 1-4 with illuminated FFP reticle for $220 (will need rings too). I am not a fan of the reduced size reticle of the Bushnell at 1x, but have read the only complaint on the Primary Arms prism scope is the same reticle problem.

Anyone have any opinion on which way to go here?

I'd advise against the Primary Arms 1x Prism scope. It is a good quality scope, but there is an issue with the reticle. The so-called "chevron" is tiny yet wide, making it hard to pin-point where exactly is the point of aim. I'd rather have a simple crosshair, or circle + dot, than this curve thingy.

I think they try to squezze the "ACSS" into everything, but sometimes simple works better.

I've developed astigmatism in recent years as well...only in my right (dominant) eye, naturally ...and all I can suggest is that you try any optic, illuminated or otherwise, before buying. Standard, non-illuminated scopes vary in the degree to which their diopter adjustment will help me compensate for my eye; many scope eye pieces just don't seem to dial far enough in to work for me, while others work very well. My optometrist can't seem to explain it and can't advise what type of optic would be best, so I must try before I buy.

With red dots, some of them (like the Aimpoint Micro) with smallish LED dots are virtually unusable for me, while larger dots work better. A Trijicon RMR illuminated via fibre-optic and/or tritium, and with a big dot, works pretty well. Surprisingly to me, a Leupold small illuminated central dot in a VX-R scope is one of the best for me.

Astigmatism sucks.

It is weird for me. The small 2MOA dot in a Vortex Sparc 2 is not crystal clear but quite serviceable with the brightness dialed down. The 3MOA dot in tje Vkrtex Venom I have is less clear, but it also will not dial its intensity down as much which may be the problem.

I wish I could try before I buy but all the shop around here either do not cater to this type of optic, or are sold out :(.

Thanks for that picture. I was interested in the optic but did not realize the reticle was that small.

I did not read the first few posts of this thread and just took the EOTech from my AR and slipped it onto the top of my new Ruger PC carbine (Mlok). It fit fine and works great! It even co-witnessed with the Magpul steel back up sights from my (now) prohibited rifle. I have the short base on my holographic sight, not the quick detach mount.
