Ruger PC9 What optic are you using?

Worked perfectly, my buddy had his out with the Vortex Crossfire red dot on it, shot it also and the Vortex was very nice. I like the fact I can use the irons thru the high mount if needed.
If you can look under the Crossfire on the skeletonized high mount through the irons, do you not find you have no cheek weld when looking through the red dot?

Weaver 30mm Tactical rings. Got mine on Amazon.ca.

I've really got my eye on a PC carbine. I was hoping to use a Bushnell BTR 300 optic on it but I'm torn on mounting height.

What are peoples thoughts on high-rise and co-witness vs low rise on this carbine?

The co-witness isn't something I'd plan to use often, especially since the optic is 1x capable but would be a good feature to have if the high-rise position for the optic is more comfortable.

Is anyone able to recommend a reasonable set of 30mm rings for $100 or less?

I had a TRS 25 on mine for quite awhile which worked great and I liked the low profile. I just put this Bushnell AR optics 1x4 on it as I wanted to see what kind of accuracy I could get at longer ranges, plus it was just gathering dust on Justin Trudeau's AR 15 that I am storing for him lol. The carbine was also Cerakoted by Black Box Customs.

thanks that is another idea than the lovely trs25.

I’m running mine on a low mount, my buddy has his Crossfire on the high mount and on his you do lose your cheek weld slightly when looking thru the red dot, but I didn’t find it to be an issue really when shooting his gun

I've now got a PC Carbine on the way and have that scope waiting for it.

Have you had a chance to test this combo yet? What kind of accuracy are you able to achieve in the 50 to 100 meter range?

I also have a Vortex Crossfire red dot currently on my 10/22. I'm torn as to whether it would be better to flip it around and have the BTR on the 10/22 and the Vortex on the PC9.

Keep the 10/22 for cheap target work/fundamentals and use the PC9 for knocking down steel and more intuitive shooting, keep the PC9 light and fast.

Might have to try both ways and see :). I'm curious of your thoughts on the BTR vs the TRS25 as that is quite similar.

I saw something recently that claimed Primary Arms was working on a 9mm carbine specific reticle... sort of makes sense given the rise in popularity of PCC's in the United States and elsewhere.

Edit, just took a look on the Primary Arms web site and they are calling it the Gemini ACSS reticle and it will be a 2x prismatic optic coming out this year.

After a bit of reflecting I decided to mount the BTR onto the 10/22. The Vortex Crossfire will go on the PC9.

From what I hear, the zero generally holds when taking down the carbine but nonetheless I've decided I'll remove the rear sight and mount the red dot on a pic rail there. I have more confidence in the zero being held with this mounting method. Also I rather like the more forward "scout" style mounting position. Currently I've got that position on my BPS and it works well and points nicely while keeping lots of peripheral vision.

Keeping the PC9 nice and light is appealing to me.

I just installed the Crossfire on mine, fit feels good with low-mount. High mount would allow co-witness but feels like it convert the cheek weld into a "jaw weld".

Yeah I prefer the low mount also, had mine out a few times now and I’m quite impressed with it, excellent firearm :)

I haven't slung any lead from mine yet but looking forward to it. I've got a pic rail to replace the rear sight on the way so I can use a forward mounting position and hopefully hold zero as good as possible /w the Crossfire.

I've also removed the iron sights entirely for now. I'll keep them close but I kind of like the streamlined feeling without them. The PCC feels great in hand, very sturdy once I got the adjustment for the breakdown dialed in perfect. Also swapped over to the Glock mag-well as I'm sure most owners do.

Love the modifiable charging handle and mag-release. Gives lots of options for us lefties.

Got the PC Carbine out and zero'ed in. Shoots pretty nice with the Vortex Crossfire. I zero'ed in on 115 gr Federal FMJ and then tested 147 gr Federal FMJ and 124 gr S&B JHP. S&B had same impact point as the 115 gr whereas the 147 shot low and slightly right for some reason. Both groups are at 20m, ten-shots, front bag support, "slowish speed" - a shot every 3 to 5 seconds.
