Ruger PC9 What optic are you using?

i went with a co-witness setup.

VMX 3T + Sightmark Wolverine CSR

Older pic of my rifle, but the optic setup is still the same.

I did buy the pic rail from the guy I mentioned on #######, removed the rear peep sight and mounted the rail there using a bushnell trs-25. Ran for a short while but didn't like it. Put the rear peep sight back and mounted the red dot on the receiver. Used a few times after, taking down and putting back, never lost zero.

What didn't you like about this set up?

Losing the rear peep sight. If the dot went dead in use them the rifle is a lost cause. Keeping the rear peep sight and having the red dot mounted on the receiver works better. If the dot goes out, I can remove and still use irons, which surprisingly is really easy and accurate to use on this rifle.

The TRS-25 and rear peep sight almost co-witnesses with each other.

Got the regular stock and mlok fore-end version in order to get the iron sights. The Vortex Crossfire red dot on the low mount works well. You can sorta see the irons through it. If you put it on the higher skeleton mount you could easily use the irons, but then the red dot is pretty high to get a cheek weld. I am trying to figure out how to mount and use my Vortex micro 3x magnifier. The base would take some major filing and it would also be fairly high for the reg stock. Down the road I may have to keep an eye out for AR type stocks.

I'll probably get some hate for this, but I threw on a cheap RioRand red dot

There are a dozen or so other names for for this exact same thing. It holds zero for me, takes cheap CR2032 batteries and I don't care if it breaks. If you're worried about snobs making fun of you, put a more respected brand name sticker over it or something. :)

I have one of the $20 ones on mine as well holds zero has adjustable red or green dot and I don't care about the haters. lol The thing holds zero on my 12ga.

What I'd love to see is a low riser adjustable rear ghost ring that waterfalls off the back of the receiver picatinny.
This would give me irons with a nearly doubled sight radius.
Then, the factory rear could be replaced with awesomealvin's little picatinny to support a red dot on a QD.
In fact, the movable parts of the stock rear sight could be repurposed on the new design cantilevered sight base.
Any good designers out there?

I've really got my eye on a PC carbine. I was hoping to use a Bushnell BTR 300 optic on it but I'm torn on mounting height.

What are peoples thoughts on high-rise and co-witness vs low rise on this carbine?

The co-witness isn't something I'd plan to use often, especially since the optic is 1x capable but would be a good feature to have if the high-rise position for the optic is more comfortable.

Is anyone able to recommend a reasonable set of 30mm rings for $100 or less?

I just got mine last week, threw a Holosun 403 on it and took it out Saturday. Worked perfectly, my buddy had his out with the Vortex Crossfire red dot on it, shot it also and the Vortex was very nice. I like the fact I can use the irons thru the high mount if needed.
