Been playing with my new ruger precision 22 lately. I can not believe how well this gun shoots. I found the Winchester m22 is shooting the best groups out of it. At 80 yards I was shooting under an inch. Unbelievable gun!!!!

Are you counting ALL the flyers?

A buddy has the same rifle and he says accuracy is a disappointment.

Or maybe you just got a good one.

Rimfires can be quirky like that, just because it's not good or is good ammo doesn't guarantee results. I've had 10/22's (one of my favorite guns of all time) that shoots CCI blazer amazingly, then I had one which choked on it and shotgunned it everywhere. So who knows, but gratz on the shooter! Always nice when they shoot good.

I'm really surprised with the responses! maybe I did get a good one?? but yea that was 5 shot groups, it shoots similar with the federal value pack as well but not quite as good.

Accuracy reports on this gun have been pretty spotty, but maybe worth noting that I think the higher the price..the more people pay attention to a detail like that. lol If Ruger was selling these for around $300, I'd take a chance on one and see if I could get it to shoot. For what Ruger charges, it's reasonable to expect a gun that shoots well. If not, there are players in that $ range that do, like CZ, Tikka, etc. Based on what I've read online, the new Savage B series are pretty consistently good and if I'm being honest...I'd probably buy one of those over the Ruger.

I DO like the Ruger though....and wish I could justify the risk.

I agree... I have a feeling after the honeymoon is over and initial enthusiasm fades, the price will come down.

If the barrel is rough, just replace the barrel, but by the time we do that on an over priced RPR, we'll be in the price range of an Anschutz multi purpose rifle.

Agreed. Also why I won't buy a Ruger 10/22~they need work out of the gate to shoot well. lol I have a model 64 MPR, but for some reason Anschutz left the word "Precision" out of the model name. ;) Anyhow, just razzing... I really wanted one of these Rugers, I've shot it's big brother in 6.5 Creedmoor and really liked the look/function/accuracy. I was stoked when I learned they were making a rimfire version..then let down by the accuracy reports. Again, I tie my reaction to those...to the asking price.

I just don't think it has any competition on the market with this set of features. Chassis rifle, 30MOA pic rail, free-float, pistol grip, cheap and excellent 10 round mags, good trigger, adjustable LOP and cheek riser... I think it's more the feature-set that makes it stand out than accuracy.

I just bought 3 of the RPR's, one for each of my kids. Primary reason was the easy adjustment of the stock - kids range from 10-15 yrs old, and having the ability to tailor the rifle's LOP to them individually is a big plus.

I'm into the rifles, cases, optics, rings, bipods, etc for about $4K - roughly $1300 per kid setup.

The first day at the range, each of them was averaging about 8 MOA - they haven't shot much - in fact, the last time they were on the range was the mapleseed shoot here in Halifax last summer.

The second range visit for all of them went a lot better. Using Federal 555 bulk packs, at 20m, I used Ballistic-X on my phone to measure the target results - between 2-3 MOA. The second range visit was also all fired from the bench, rather than prone, so that may have made a bit of a difference as well.

I haven't had the kids test the rifles with any ammo other than the Fed555, so I don't know how some Eley or other target ammo would do - I'll get to that in the next couple of weeks. At this point, it's getting some rounds down-range, and getting the rifles broken in. They each have about 150 or so through their rifles. This weekend I'm hoping to bust them out to about 400 rounds - I'm planning to get some steel on the range and let them reach out to hit it at 40-50 yards.

I'm pleased with the rifles for the price-point I'm at with them.

I bought a B22 FV and have been pleasantly surprised for a cheap 22. There's the odd flier, but I've done nothing to the gun. I tend to end up using CCI Standard in everything, or S&B since buying a pile of it for $3/box.

I also shoot CZ/Brno so I have some idea of how a decent rifle should shoot :)

The Ruger has the look, but like others here I'm afraid that it ends at the look, and the price on them has been going up, not down.

I'm interested in seeing how that 10/22 custom shop shoots, though.

Try cci standard velocity, my rpr is shooting average groups of about 0.750 with cci standard, best group at 50 yards with no rear bag was .450. I think its the best ammo for the price, alot of guys are having good results with them

I'm in agreement with Gunknob and his above post. CCI standard shoots "lights-out" in the two RPR's I've had experience with.
