Shorter barrel = less weight... Maybe?
Ya, I realize what the rifle is supposed to be for. I like it and I'm going to use it for other than precision shooting . It'll be lighter when I'm finished with it..I don't think the idea behind this rifle was light weight![]()
I never said anything about. 16 inch barrelA 16 inch barrel on a long range precision rifle is kinda like putting sport car high speed tires on a 4x4 isn't it? but each to there own, if it makes ya smile then do it!![]()
I never said anything about. 16 inch barrel. I believe you lose about 25 fps per inch of barrel , so going from 20 to 18 1/2 is about a 40 fps , hardly anything . Also it's possible that a 18 1/2 inch barrel is more accurate than a 20. So about 2 ounces off the barrel , 7 ounces off the hand guard , and that stock gotta weigh about ??? I don't know , but I got a 7 ounce stock for it. So maybe it's possible to get this down to 8 lbs . Add 3 ounces for the Aero precision mount, and 13 ounces for the optic. 9 lbs ... And maybe I'll just leave it as is ... Lol

its just a rifle, since when does the manufacturers vision have to fit what you intend to do with it. If I bought one it would need to get down around 7lbs or I would not bother
Ahhhh thank you! Interchangeable grip, butt and foregrip threw me off
not many rifles on the market that have as large of an aftermarket following already. If 7lbs is your goal, I'd start with a different rifle but that's just my thoughts on the matter.
I was looking at a MI forend , about 5.5 ounces lighter. Not sure what the weight difference is between a steel nut and an aluminum one. Chop the barrel to 18 1/2 is another couple of ounces. I can't find any info on the stock , but it looks heavy., I have a Rogers super stoc and its only 7.3 ounces. Should be no trouble knocking this back to under 8 lbs.not many rifles on the market that have as large of an aftermarket following already.
Unless the action is a tank weight wise, going to all the lightest AR 15 parts possible should attain the weight I am after. I will know better once they are in stock and can get weights on the factory supplied components
