Ruger Precision Rifle

That's about 3/4 MOA on the first target? That's not bad:). I had RPR paid for but got a refund when all the delays started. Went a diff route , which cost me triple . Now I kinda think I should have waited.

I had my .308 RPR to the range today. My 300 yard group measured about 1.25" vertical by 2.25" horizontal in a 25km variable crosswind from 10:00.

If you don't mind me asking, which range? I have been having trouble finding contact information for any ranges locally. I am new to shooting and was looking for a club to join.

It's the DND range in Alexandria, on Rt 26. Shoot me a PM and I'll forward your info to the club Pres. (PEI Provincial Rifle Association). There are 2 more on PEI; The Big Boot shooting range between Hunter River and Kensington and there is one in Miscouche

My first 308 bolt gun. First time out at 100 meters. I think this rifle has potential. Just need a better bipod and proper rear bag and I think I can tighten things up and eliminate the fliers. Shot with federal match 168. Tried to sight in with Norinco Surplus and that was a big no no. Rookie mistake.

No comment on the Ruger but my friend killed an elk at 455 yds on Monday evening with 129 gr Hornady factory out of his Tikka 6.5 Creedmore. ( rebarrelled) Scoped with a Huskema 5x20 Spectacular shot

How did the surplus ammo shoot though? Did the rifle have any issues with it?

I'm waiting for some time off work to shoot, and Boxing day sales to stock up on ammo and get a bipod. Then it is off to the range with my 308 RPR. I will post results asap!

Initial thoughts:
- Safety is very stiff, but does not rattle.
- Fit and finish is nice, but I feel like the matte black will scratch easily. Oh well, it's a gun, not a Christmas ornament.
- It is very hard to find any plastic on this thing. There is the bolt shroud and cheek rest - everything else feels like steel or aluminum. Very solid.
- There is a tiny amount of play in the stock folding mechanism. It is less than 1 mm, and you can only notice if you are looking for it. But it's there.
- Trigger is amazing!

My first group after sight in from my RPR in 243. I think I will keep it.

Got a close-up view of one today in 6.5 creedmore. Seems very light weight. I got a chance to try it out too. Little to no recoil with this calibre. The rifle seems pretty solid.

First impressions are positive.

I sent the rifle into Ruger and they found a locktite type of material in the safety and trigger mechanism. They cleaned the parts in a ultrasonic cleaner and reassembled. The guy at Ruger told me he had to hit the safety with a rubber mallet to dislodge it.
