My Ruger PR arrived today from a great CGNutter in QC. What a super smooth deal. We truly have a great community around here.
I wanted to share some observations (initial) with the many magazines I've got kicking around the workshop.
I have a few AICS style 10 rounders made by Accurate Mag and of course the 2 of them provided with the Ruger PR come with this brand. What's not to like?
My MDT Tac Polymer magazines all work well and cycle smoothly with the RPR. They are all 10 rounders.
My FOUR USGI 5/20 M14 magazines all fit and release from the Ruger Patented Mag system. There is only ONE conflict and that's the 70 degree one piece bolt of Ruger American platform. The bottom lug while being designed to feed from the AICS and Magpul, etc, etc brand magazines, conflict / bump /interfere with the magazine follower of the M14 mags.
That ends the potential for using M14 magazines... "SOME M14 Magazines" is the quote from the Ruger folks. Oh well, we tried.
Now here's a fun surprise; I bought a Magpul Hunter Stock Bottom Magazine adapter and "dremel" tool inlet that magazine well to my camo SPS Tupperware stock. It's my coyote hunter in .260 and deer hunter in .308. That bottom magazine adapter came with a Magpul 5 round .308 magazine. Well this magazine fits the Ruger PR mag well so perfectly and the bolt cycles slicker than snot on a doorknob!
I just unscrewed the muzzle thread protector and screwed on a brake (likely Kommunizt Zhinese) from Amazon dot ca. IT goes on well, but now it's a matter of indexing properly with the right washers for that 5/8" x 24 tip threaded muzzle.
Hey, anybody need some of the 5/8" crush washers? I have a bunch of them for $2 mailed to you if you need a few.
More observations to come as I spend some fondle time with this platform.
