I find that with the butler creek mags they do take some breaking in. BUT what really helped me with this problem was making sure that once the butler creek mag was in the gun to also make sure it was pused forward as far as possible. There is a little play with the butler creek mags VS the stock ruger 10 shot ones. New butler creek mags tend to sit back in the mag slot. Wiggle and play around with them until they get pushed forward. This fixed that issue for me.
