Ruger Scout rifle

Recieved mine from Epps today and I am pleased. Ordered it Monday and it arrived here in NS today. Small disapointment that it didn't come with the Gunsite Logo on the grip as I had seen in industry photos. Do the five round mags come from Ruger directly?
That's funny. Dude at Epps told me a few weeks ago that they wouldn't be available until the fall. I told him he was wrong but he wasn't hearing any of it. Guess I was right after all.

I really like the look of these rifles, I have not handled one yet but if someone could give the MSRP and where we could pre-order them it would be appreciated!

crap you hear at gun stores

thats funny. See thread related to this title. You'd think they'd check on these things or at least say " not certain on that, let me check."

Just to confirm though do these come with 10's or 5 round mags ?

I was in williams arms in Port Perry the other day.
They have one on the shelf. Toll Free# 1-877 833 2634

I'm glad to hear you like your rifle. I've had one on order for a while and will be here next week.

I load for a couple of other 308's, but I was curious as to what you are running in your reloads. I was thinking of going with a Hornady 150gr BTSP (I have lots of them) and IMR4064.

Has anyone else reloaded for the new Ruger Scout?

Thanks.

James

I got mine two weeks ago from WSS in Calgary. It is a sweet shooter. The groups with factory Federal were about 4" but once I got some of my own loads going for it the groups are down to about 1-2".

I did not use a scout scope - I put a Redfield 2-7-33 traditional scope on it (using the supplied Ruger rings.) A 40 mm scope will bump up against the rail on the front, hence the 33 mm scope.

It is a very nice rifle.

Picked mine up today.

I opted for a 5rd magazine. The 10 i thought was a little too chunky.

The rifle itself is nice, I forward mounted a red dot on it for the time being until I figure out what I want to do with it.

Check the feed ramp especially, it was really rough. Had a lot of burr on it from the factory. Took it down with a file, then fine emery paper. Guess that's a production gun these days...

I had been waiting on this gun for a long time.... It was worth it.

I got one yesterday, was waiting and waiting could not decide between it or a compact... wanted something small in 308.

Then I went to local gun store for some ammo.

Saw one of these scouts on the rack. I have been reading anything and everything I could on them.
I handled it, and basically molested it for a while, I left the store put ammo in van where my wife was waiting, we chatted and went back in... guy at store threw in a box of ammo and a bore snake.

Long story short... we left with it!

I'm happy with it... if it shoots well, I believe it will fit my needs in the Northern Ontario bush.

I got out to shoot mine last night with some hand loads (150's & IMR4064). I must say, I was very impressed with how it shot and handled. The bolt was a bit 'tight' at times, but it may have been a combination of my reloads and/or the angle I was working the bolt at while at the bench.

I only had time to set up a 50 yard target to sight it in, but from a cool barrel, it put 3 shots into 3/4". I was pretty impressed, since that was just a load I threw together at the last minute. Even with a warm/hot barrel, it kept the shots within 2".

I mounted a Vortex Diamondback 1.5-5x32 scope on it to do my load development, but I am looking forward to trying it with the open sights.

All-in-all, I am very happy with my new toy and I have ordered a 5 round magazine for hunting this Fall.

I just have to make sure I keep the rifle away from C1A1 who was at the range last night. He really liked it too! :p;)

No problem. I will wait for 6 months

No problem, will wait for a few months until the love affair is over, then take it off his hands! All kidding aside, the rifle handled well, would prefer a 5 round in the woods....C1A1
