The bottom line is,how does it shoot?Before people start sending them back for "QC' issues,they should probably take them to the range
My SR1911 was pretty loose out the box,but actually shoots very well and is quite reliable.Ive shot a 2 inch 8 shot group off sandbags(wish I could do that offhand!)at 25 m,so really cant ask more than that.
Reading the Ruger forums,it seems that the initial Rugers were very tight,but had galling problems,so the tolerances have loosened up subsequently(not sure how true this is,but it makes sense).People put far too much emphasis on slide/frame fit as regards accuracy,and while its nice to handle a tight gun with a smoothly cycling slide,practically,this is not that important.
I still think that as a entry level 1911with all the features that you could want,its a pretty good deal
