What a ridiculous law. This is 2015 for crying out loud.
Thanks for the info.
It just doesn't make sense that you can still buy one but can’t hunt with it. I live in Northern Ontario and when I'm hunting, I'm way out in the bush. How is it any more dangerous than any other high powered rifle? I suppose I'm preaching to the choir. Nobody else will listen, though.
Where is this petition that has been mentioned? I would certainly like to sign it.

I would like to buy one of these and use it for hunting. Would it be legal to do that or are they classified as a restricted rifle?
I don't mean to come across like a jerk or anything, I'm legitimately curious: How does one join CGN 10 years ago, rack up 1400 posts, and yet not find this topic to be old, rehashed news?
Or know that an AR is restricted after those same 10 years.

Even with a 30 inch barrel it would still be restricted just because it's an AR variant. That automatically makes it 10x more dangerous than any other non restricted rifle.
Sign the petitions and join NFA if you don't like it. Support those who fight for our rights.
As long as some deer wander onto your range you're good to go.
