I would like to buy one of these and use it for hunting. Would it be legal to do that or are they classified as a restricted rifle?

What a ridiculous law. This is 2015 for crying out loud.

Thanks for the info.

Even with a 30 inch barrel it would still be restricted just because it's an AR variant. That automatically makes it 10x more dangerous than any other non restricted rifle.

It just doesn't make sense that you can still buy one but can’t hunt with it. I live in Northern Ontario and when I'm hunting, I'm way out in the bush. How is it any more dangerous than any other high powered rifle? I suppose I'm preaching to the choir. Nobody else will listen, though.

Welcome to Canadian guns laws. Sign the AR-15 petition from the NFA. hoping to get them non-restricted with this but its just a hope. then no one has to complain about the legalities of hunting with an AR.

I don't mean to come across like a jerk or anything, I'm legitimately curious: How does one join CGN 10 years ago, rack up 1400 posts, and yet not find this topic to be old, rehashed news?

Or know that an AR is restricted after those same 10 years.

Easy, be a avid hunter, pistol guy or... just saying we all aren't into semi.-auto. Black rifles or the info. that goes with them.

I've got buddies that have been into firearms off and on there whole adult lives that have never ever even fired a semi.-auto. centre fire Black rifle until I got around to giving them a chance a couple years ago.

Now they are both RPAL holders with 9mm handguns and one even has a DD M4V7 that they've been sharing at the range.

Cheers D

I lengthened mine and it was still classed as restricted.
