I am looking for a pistol for my wife. The Ruger fits her hand like it was made for it but the S&W seems to have better reviews.

Comments or suggestions on other slim grip 9mm's?

I had a SR9 and didn't like it. On the other hand, I just bought my G/F a M&P Julie Goloski Edition and she loves it. I don't mind shooting it either. Just have to make sure nobody see's the pink grips.

i just got 2 sr9's on a trade i think im gonna keep one of em. i have already removed the magazine safety. trigger pull seems smoother now. apparently ghost mfg is making a new trigger bar for this pistol to lighten trigger pull from 7lbs down to 3.5. i may look at getting one after i polish and touch up the trigger parts, otherwise i like the way this pistol feels and it points and aims very naturally for me which is unusual.

I just traded off a SR9. I liked the pistol, except for the trigger. I just couldn't get used to it. If Ruger could get their #### together and put a decent trigger in that pistol, they would sell a lot more of them.

Have you considered a CZ75?

Howdy, so that's why you sold it to me! HA! The wife loves it-continuously outshoots me at 15 to 20 yards against my .45. Later

I prefer the M&P, mostly just due to the trigger. I don't think the MP has a half bad trigger at all, whereas the Ruger has a god-aweful trigger. Other than that, I know folks who've got SR9s and don't have any complaints.

Right now I'd take the M&P over the Ruger. Haven't shot either but I've handled both. That said, for a polymer frame 9mm pistol I'd go Glock 17 over either choice.

But for a double stack 9mm of any frame composition my first choice would be a BHP MkIII or CZ 75/85.

NAA.

The HK P30 has the smallest grip I have handled but at $1300 she had better be one hell of a wife.:p
Between the Ruger and the M&P I vote M&P. I shot a guys Ruger at the club and I didn't like the grip or the trigger.

... she had better be one hell of a wife.:p

She is ..............

She has put up with me for close to 30 years now - 29th anniversary coming up next summer - and has never complained about my hunting, shooting , and fishing.

When I quit smoking 10 years ago she also encouraged me to take the saved money and buy guns with it. Her logic is that firearms retain more value than a cigarette butt collection.

And yo want to buy her an inexpensive gun??? YOU bad boy!!
Anyhow how about a STI Ranger II in 9mm? single stack very slim grip and a small gun over all.

my only complaint about my SR9 is trigger action/pull, which gets better over time, or can be altered. i have shot a M&P9 and its about the same weight, the ruger is a better fit for smaller hands IMO.

Everyone seems to complain about the SR9s trigger but unless the one's I shot were special I think it was great. Very smooth and shot very well. Stupidly easy to strip it to clean. I haven't shot the M&P in 9mm but have shot the .40 and hated it. Now that's a trigger I didn't like. Hinged trigger just felt weird. I definitely give a thumbs up to the SR9.

M&P has had issues. Right outta the box I've seen them drop mags after every shot. 2 times this year I've seen this. Other issues include the slide slamming closed when inserting the mag with any force. Also the mag safety is harder to remove then the sr9. I had an sr9 for about 6 months but sold it to buy a glock. I had no complaints about the sr9 except the sights were not as large as I like. I really liked the look and feel of it. The grips are slimmer than anything out there in a fullsize pistol, even a 1911. It was 100% reliable and easy to strip and clean. I don't regret the glock for 1 second though. I will say my gf hates it though. Haha. I'd say go for the sr9 if she wants a small grip, it doesn't get any better.

The issues with the MP's are from earlier made ones. I haven't heard any issues with the recently made ones of which I have one.
